日本のロック史に名を残す、伝説のバンドTHE BLUE HEARTS。現在活躍しているパンクバンドの多くが、この伝説的なバンドの影響を多大に受けており、昨今のパンクシーンの盛り上がりもあって、ブルハのトリビュート盤は数多くリリースされている。そんな多くのトリビュート盤の中でも、私はこの作品が、ブルハに対する愛情が最も溢れた作品ではないかと思う。3曲とも素晴らしいのだが、ここではビークルことBEAT CRUSADERSによる『青空』について言及しておきたい。『青空』という曲は、なんと言っても人種差別を批判した歌詞が印象的な名曲なのだが、原曲ではゆったりと弾き語りのように、鋭いメッセージが淡々と唄われているところが魅力的である。対して今作では、テンポの速いパンク風なアレンジに、ビークルのVo.hidakaと、HUSKING BEEのVo.イッソンの声が乗り、とても疾走感のあるナンバーに仕上がっている。まさに「ナイス解釈！」といった感じ。ブルーハーツ世代の人には、名曲の新しい解釈を楽しんでほしいし、ブルーハーツ世代でない人には、この作品をTHE BLUE HEARTSという偉大なバンドとの出会いのきっかけにしてほしい。

完璧。
私は、そもそもTHE BLUE HERTSだけでなくBEAT CRUSADERSやOi-SKALL MATESなど演奏者側も好きなので、このTRIBUTEは願ってもいない企画なのです。ですから、「完璧」と思うのは当然なのかもしれません。
しかし例え、どちらも好きという方ではなくとも陶酔できるCDであると思います。
THE BLUE HEARTSが好きだということが伝わってきます。そして、それらの歌に対して最大限の敬意でもって演奏しているのがわかります。良い歌を歌おうという熱意が溢れています。
是非聴いてはまって欲しいです。

元歌もカバーもどっちも好きだよ。
元歌がいいからだとも思うし、
カバーした彼らの解釈もすぐれているのだとも思う。
