『アメリカ:ア・トリビュート・トゥ・ヒーローズ』でニール・ヤングの「イマジン」と双璧に良かったのが、リンプ・ビズキットとグー・グー・ドールズのジョン・レズニックが歌った「あなたがここにいてほしい」だった。ピンク・フロイドの曲に惨劇に対する思いを託するやり方には、彼らの日常生活に埋め込まれたロックの根深さをあらためて痛感させられたけれど、そのグー・グー・ドールズの3年半ぶりの新作には、いまやアメリカの王道ロックの中心ともなった彼らの自信が漲っている。
グリーン・デイからエモ系にまで通じるようなスピード感あるナンバーや、キャッチーなシングル曲の「ヒア・イズ・ゴーン」、中盤での「ホワット・ア・シーン」「イッツ・オーヴァー」など聴き手の奥深くにじっくり歩を進めるやり方など、憎いほどバンドとしてのスケールを感じさせる。かつての勢いで勝負を迫るようなサウンドももちろん今でも好きだが、こうした成熟感も文句なく素晴らしい。 (大鷹俊一) --- 2002年05月号

ジャケからは想像出来ないぐらい
明るいポップなアメリカンロックが炸裂した良作です。

前作でちょっと物たりなさを感じましたが
今作は「ア・ボーイ・ネームド・グー」に匹敵する安定感を
誇っていると思います。
曲のバランス、音質共に文句の付けようがなく

ヒット曲「ヒアイズゴーン」に代表される
彼等しか作れなさそうなポップな曲が目白押しです。

今回は全体的に今までより音に厚みや広がりが出て、それでいて密度が濃くなっている。
メロディセンスはやはり秀逸。今作も彼ららしさの溢れるもので、初めて聴く人が聴いても、既にファンの人が聞いても十分楽しめる。
この美麗ジャケ写もアルバムのコンセプトにぴったり。作られるべくして作られたアルバムという感じがする。

ボーナスに関してはちょっと難。凄く綺麗だしジョンの美声が聴けるけれど、『ディジー･アップ･トゥ･ザ･ガール』やベスト盤にも入っているから違うのが良かったなぁ。
対訳も訳し方が下手なので、どうしても対訳が無いと意味がわからないという人でなければ輸入盤で良いのでは。

ぶらっと立ち寄ったＣＤショップ、たまたま視聴でカントリー好きのだんなに｢好きそうじゃん？」ってすすめてゲット。すごくいいです。胸にぐっと刺さる、切ないメロディ。３０、４０代のロックを忘れかけてたひとたちへ。
