西本氏のお得意のチャイコフスキー‥。その中でも最も思い入れがあると思われる「悲愴交響曲」! この西本氏の「悲愴」の録音は、端正でいて美しい演奏ですね‥。 この作品は来日公演を収録したDVDでも演奏していますが、そこでは西本氏もライヴという事もありかなり「アグレッシブ」に演奏しています。 このCDの録音では、来日公演の演奏より抑制がきいており、「フォルテッシモ」の様な「強奏」でもオケの音は決して汚くならないし、テンポもかなり遅めに設定されていて充実した演奏です。 「気品があり美しい演奏」と言えるでしょうか‥? この作品に、ムラヴィンスキーやコンドラシン、スヴェトラーノフの様な「ロシア臭さ」を求める方々には少し物足りない録音かも知れませんが、チャイコフスキーの美しい音楽に純粋に浸りたい聴き手には西本氏の「悲愴交響曲」はかけがえのない録音になると思います。 西本氏の「品位があり、美しい、そして内に秘めた情熱」みたいなものが感じられるこのCDは、この作品の最近の録音では貴重な名演奏と言えるでしょう! 第四、第五交響曲も是非とも録音して欲しいです!‥交響曲全集を録音してくれるなら、その時が本当に楽しみです! 期待して待ってますよ‥!

最近何かと話題となっている、女性指揮者、西本智実さんの十八番、チャイコフスキーの「悲愴」。
初めて彼女の指揮した音楽に接しました。
人気先行かとも思っていましたが、その若さにも関わらず、落ち着き、そして円熟した「悲愴」を聴かせてもらいました。
今の言葉と裏腹になりますが、若さによるものか、時々音楽が平板になる所も見られたように感じましたが「上手の手から水が漏れる」程度のものだと思います。
彼女がこれから年を重ねるにつれ、どのような音楽を造っていくようになるか・・・また楽しみな日本人指揮者が出てきました。

悲愴は、西本さんの人間そのものと、彼女の音楽の”気品”がもっともよく表れている演奏だと思います。
一度聞いたら、なかなか離れられない魅力のある演奏です。
また、西本さんのすべてのCDジャケットの中で、この写真のお顔が、理知的で気品があって、一番好きです。

才能や美貌は生まれながらのものなので近づきたくても無理がありますが、”気品”の部分で身習えるところは見習って、彼女のような人になりたいな、と思います。
西本さんの手書きの書き込みのある「悲愴」のｽｺｱがﾃﾞｻﾞｲﾝされたＣＤｹｰｽもとても素敵です。

西本さんの講演を聞く機会がありました。そのあとでこのCDを聞き
ますます彼の奥深い　感性がにじみ出ている作品だと感じました。
