サッカーが好きで見たが見る前までは「魔法の靴？」「おとぎ話？」みたいな先入観があったが見終わったら全然違った。ちゃんとしたヒューマンドラマだった。ある日魔法の靴を手に入れた事からいじめられっ子の主人公が恋愛関係、人間関係がサッカーを通じ描かれ最後まで楽しめる映画。また、普段は弾け飛んでいる役の多いロバート・カーライルの暖かい人間実ある演技に彼の違う一面が見れた映画。サッカーが好きな人も嫌いな人にもお勧め。

原題はTHERE'S ONLY ONE JIMMY GRIMBLE
今や世界一有名なサッカー選手となってしまったあの人も、
サポーターから“THERE'S ONLY ONE DAVID BECKHAM”など
と呼ばれることもあり、何物にも替え難い傑物を賛辞するようなときにも
使われることがあるのが、このフレーズです。
邦題は明らかにリトル・ダンサーを意識したもので残念ですが、
とはいえ、原題では日本のセールスは見込めないし、まあ仕方ないか。。。
どこにでもいそうな少年を主人公に、どこにでもありそうな日常を
描いた映像は、全編を通じてなんとも言えない暖かみが流れて心地よい。
主人公の演技も秀逸だが、渋い魅力のロバート・カーライル・個人的には
大好きなジーナ・マッキー等共演陣も実に豪華。
そしてハイライトとなる試合会場はなんとメイン・ロード！！！（マンチェスター・シティのホーム）
ストーリー・映像、そして音楽まで、全てにわたって一見の価値ありの名作です！！！

主人公はいじめられっ子。まわりの大人はシングルマザーのお母さんや、元サッカー選手だが今は孤独な体育の先生…。子供が理想とする強い大人にはなかなかなれない。

そんな大人に囲まれたいじめられっ子に、ほんのひとつまみの”魔法”がふりかかり、主人公の男の子は…。そしてまわりの大人たちは…。~弱いものがリベンジを実現する、ココロあたたまるストーリーです。

ルールなんて無視しまくりのめちゃくちゃなサッカー遠征や、悪役ではないロバート・カーライルも見ものです。
