枝雀のDVDを何本か買ったが、個人的には、このDVDが良い。代書も良いが、枝雀の寝床は文楽の寝床とは別世界を切り開き、聞き応え十分に仕上がっている。

米朝一門のナンバー２（元）であったことを、強く実感できる一枚。
メインの「寝床」で見せる枝雀ならでわの軽い脱線、ボディアクションはもちろんのこと、大ネタらしい登場人物の多さをモノともしない演じ分けは圧巻。

また、カップリングが親しみやすいネタである「代書」であることや、解説担当が「べかちゃん」こと桂南光であることは、初めて落語に接する人への配慮とも思えます。
旧来からの上方落語ファンはもちろん、これから落語を体験してみようとする方に最適な一枚でしょう。

学生である自分が桂枝雀という人を知ったのは、師匠が亡くなった後ですが、
このDVDを見てびっくりしました。師匠の軽快な語り口と、大げさとも思える動作に引き込まれ、時間が一瞬にして過ぎました。これを見れば「落語は古い」というのが嘘だとわかります。終始笑いっぱなしでした。
