「ショパンの管弦楽書法は単なる伴奏に過ぎず貧弱だ」というのが定説。確かに多くの演奏ではそう。ところがジュリーニの手にかかると俄然「立派で陰影が深く意味深い音楽」として鳴り出すからびっくり。これほど立派なショパンの協奏曲は聴いたことがない。若きツィマーマン（ジメルマン）のピアノも若き剣士の名刀のきらめきのようで立派にして輝かしい。二人の美学ががっちりと噛み合い素晴らしい成果を挙げている。「実はライブ録音なんです」と知らされた日には二度びっくり。「遊び、ゆとり、くつろぎ」よりも「厳しくも誠実な陰影溢れる本格的演奏」を求める向きには最高の演奏だ。

ツィマーマンによるショパンのピアノ協奏曲は、オーケストラを自ら結成した上に弾き振りをした新録音が有名だが、
この演奏は、そのだいぶ前にそれとは違うアプローチでこの曲の真髄に迫った快演といえる。
何よりもツィマーマンのピアノを聴くには、新録音以上にお勧めできる。
このＣＤでは、ツィマーマンのピアノが輝いている。
二つのアプローチで、このピアニストはこの曲の双璧を築いている。

第一番は、カリフォルニアＵＳＡミュージックセンターのライブレコーディングです。

いやはや凄い。てっきりスタジオ録音かと思うほどの完璧な演奏。
まさに「ドイツ・グラモフォン」のクオリティ、です。

この曲のファンのよくあるパターンが、
１．ブーニンの「衝撃のショパンコンクール」でこの曲に魅せられ、
２．この演奏にたどりつく、
というものですが、よく理解できます。

まるで「衝撃のショパンコンクール」（YOU TUBEにおいて「chopin bunin6」で検索）の
演奏のクオリティを二段階引き上げたような演奏です。
「きっとブーニンはこの演奏を参考にしたんだろうな」というところも随所にあります。
だから、ブーニンを聴きこんだ耳にもなじみやすい。

で、ですね。どう言えばよいか、この演奏は日本で昔、ピアノが「洋琴」と言われていたことがよく分かります。
時に琴のように、時にオルゴールのように淀みなくコロコロと演奏が進行します。
・・・悪く言うと、完璧なんだけど、こちらの気持ちを乗せきらないまま走っていってしまうことが時にあります。

ブーニンが頻繁にみせる「タメ」と「疾走」で日本人の心に風が起きる。普段クラシックを聴かない人の心にすら。
ツィマーマンのこの演奏は、完璧なんだけど、きっとムーブメントは起きない。
（「刷り込み」かもしれないけどね。）

とりあえずこのＣＤを「決定版」とする説に、異論ありません。
（蛇がのたくったような新しいＣＤ2枚版よりは、ずっといい。）

高音質の録音と高音質の楽器。間違いないようにに弾いてるだけと個人的には思う。感情移入ができない。

ツィマーマンのショパンピアノ協奏曲は、個人的には弾き振りよりもこのジュリーニ指揮の方が好きだ。ツィマーマンのピアノさばきは完璧で、特に第2番は絶品。

まさに優男的演奏だった。
すこし女々しい演奏かもしれない。

演奏は完璧だ。ほわほわした感じの演奏だった。
ショパンもこんな感じで弾いたのだろうか
