   1968年、ザ・フォーク・クルセダーズの第2弾シングルとして予定されながら、直前で発売中止になった曲が、30年以上の歳月を経て、オリジナル音源のままリリースされたもの。朝鮮南北分断を歌った朝鮮民主主義人民共和国の歌で、レコード会社が政治的配慮を考え自粛的に発売を見合わせたようだ。「誰が祖国を二つに分けてしまったの」という切なる願いを込めた歌詞、美しいメロディー、それにストリングスを導入したアレンジも冴えた佳曲。カップリングには、当時この曲の代わりにシングルとして出された「悲しくてやりきれない」収録されている。このシングルが話題を集め、2002年7月には期間限定ながらバンド再結成に至った。（小山 守）

「イムジン河」が発禁になったのは、とても悲しいことでした。　でも、そのために生まれたのが「悲しくてやりきれない」です。　２ndシングルとして用意していたものが急に発禁になったため、ホテルに缶詰になった加藤和彦が「イムジン河」のテープを逆回ししながらそのイメージで作ったのが「悲しくてやりきれない」だそうです。　これも塞翁が馬なのでしょうか？　その名曲２曲がカップリングされるなんて夢のようなディスクです。　これからも大切にしていきたいＣＤの一枚です。

私がこの歌にあったのは高校生の頃でした、当時朝鮮半島のことは、南と北に分断されたということいがい深く考えたことなどなかったときでした、ましてや朝鮮戦争などなぜおこったのか、その後の世界がどのように変わったのか、しかし、この歌あったとき衝撃を受けたのは昨日のことのように思い出されます。長い期間放送禁止になぜなったのか、なぜ歌ってはいけないのか、知らずに悩んでいたのか、いまでもこの歌が流れると思わず口ずさんでしまいます、同じ民族が国境で別れ別れになっていることなど私にはわかるすべはありませんが、早く仲良く手と手を取り合うことを願っています。

やってきた、長らく発売が待たれた名曲です｡美しいメロディラインと良い意味で軽く､心地よい歌声｡この曲がやっと発売になるというこれ以上うれしいことは近頃ありません｡今聞いても色あせることないこのエヴァーグリーンを皆様も堪能してください｡
