『ブラン・ニュー・デイ』（1999年）のリリースを受け、1997年発売のものに新たに曲を追加したもの。ポリス時代から一貫して西洋的理性の閉域から逃走してさまざまなワールド・ミュージックと自分のパンク／ロックとを融合させようとしてきたスティングの音楽の奇跡がわかります。
2002年再発の国内盤も、『ブラン・ニュー・デイ』（1999年）のリリースを受け、1997年発売の国内盤から曲目を入れ替えているとともに、この輸入盤とは収録曲目がちがいます。が、定価を比較すると、この輸入盤のほうが安いです。あと、輸入盤のほうが一曲多く、国内盤には収録されていない「ソー・ロンリー」で終わるのは、その後彷徨を続けるスティングの音楽的ルーツがパンクにあったことを強調するかっこうになっているので、いいですね。
ただ、この輸入盤にはブックレットに歌詞がついていませんので、歌詞がほしいかたは国内盤をどうぞ。
あと、歌詞のほか、もうひとつ厄介なことは、1997年国内盤『ザ・ヴェリー・ベスト・オブ・スティング&ポリス』にだけ、ほかのＣＤでは聴けない初ＣＤ化となる、8ｃｍボーナスＣＤ「ドゥドゥドゥ・デ・ダダダ(日本語ヴァージョン)」がついていることです。
歌詞も入らない、「ドゥドゥドゥ・デ・ダダダ(日本語ヴァージョン)」もいらない、1997年以降リリースされたスティングのオリジナル・アルバム『ブラン・ニュー・デイ』をもっている、というかたは、この2002年輸入盤を購入なさってください。

何も申し上げることはありません。Every Breath You Takeです。変わったところでは、Desert Roseが、中近東の雰囲気を出しててよかったです。ファンの方にとってはこの上ないアルバムかと思いますが、他の音楽と比較した場合の判断に迷いますので、全般的に見て、星四つとさせていただきます。

もっといい曲あるよ。って思ってしまう。
ポリス時代の曲なら、ソー・ロンリーははずせないし、キング・オブ・ペインも絶対に入れて欲しいし、個人的にはブリング・オン・ザ・ナイトも名曲なので入れて欲しかった。
あと、ティー・イン・ザ・サハラも好きだなぁ。
ＳＴＩＮＧ時代の曲ではシェイプ・オブ・マイ・ハートが抜けているのはつらい。この曲は歌詞もめちゃくちゃ渋くて情景が浮かんでくるほど。ホワイ・シュッド・クライ・フォ・ユーも
すごい曲なんで入れて欲しい。
あれもこれも入れていたらきりがなくなっちゃうのはわかるんだけど。
それにしてもＳＴＩＮＧさん、いい曲作りすぎです！
