   大惨事から人々を救出する国際救助隊の活躍を描いた特撮人形劇「サンダーバード」。1964年に制作されたこのTVシリーズは全世界で熱狂的な人気を誇り続けている。またスーパーマリオネーションに総称されるさまざまな映像的工夫と演出が、後の特撮作品に大きな影響を与えた1作でもある。
   今回は製作者ジェリー・アンダーソン監修によりオリジナルフィルムをデジタルリマスター化。ハイクオリティな画面と、オープニングの稲光からズドンと響くほどにパワーアップされた5.1chのサウンドで改めて「サンダーバード」の世界にハマってしまおう。
   今観ても少しの古さも感じさせないメカのフォルムやディテールに驚き、太平洋上に浮かぶ秘密基地のそれや、ワンダバ感あふれるメカの発進シーンをわくわくしながら楽しみたい作品だ。（井上新八）

5.0 out of 5 stars ＴＶシリーズの素晴らしさを再認識, 2004/8/12
“実写版”サンダーバードを観てきました。“ＴＶシリーズ”はアメリカでは人気がなかったようですが、今度のはアメリカの子供たちをかなり意識して作られたと感じました。ま、それなりに楽しめるものでしたが、日本の“もと子供”としては、やっぱり“ＴＶシリーズ”だなと思いました。

そもそも“実写版”とはいうものの、あの巨大メカはみんなＣＧですよね。“ＴＶシリーズ”はミニチュアモデルの特撮ですから、むしろそちらがより“実写的”なんじゃないかと思います。
４０年も前の特撮のリアリティー、テーマやストーリーの重さ、オープニングタイトルや音楽の格調の高さ・・・

映画を見に行って、改めてこの“ＴＶシリーズ”の素晴らしさを認識しました。

ＮＨＫ教育での放送が始まり、現在は約１０年周期に来る日本のサンダーバード・ブームの真っ盛り。経験では、このブームが終わるとしばらく消えてしまうから、少々高くても絶対、今のうちに手に入れるべきセットです。サンダーバードの話は、結構、色々な映画の元ネタになっていて、他のシリーズでもジョー９０が、ファイアーフォックスという映画の元ネタの話というのが有りますし、このボックスの中でも第一話がエアポート’７５（だったけ？）なんかの元ネタになっています。しかし、なんと言っても例の”スピード”の主人公が爆弾を外そうとするシーン、絶対、監督は、このシリーズを見ていたと確信しています。（だってパクリだもん、何故普通に時限爆弾にしないかなど設定から、トレーラーから引っ!張った台で下に潜り込むところまで全部、一緒じゃん！）日本以上に特撮王国だったイギリスのテクニックが満載の逸品です。（当時、戦争物なんかたくさん作っていました。サンダーバードのスタッフも後に007の映画で活躍しています。）ある意味、トーマスなんかのルーツでしょう。綺麗で迫力がある映像や音（ＬＤやＶＨＳの頃とは大違い）で楽しみましょう。

今年の再放送を途中から見始めて、すっかりサンダーバードに夢中になり、
遂に念願のDVDを購入しました。音、画像の美しさに驚きを隠せません
でした。

思い切り引き付けられる演出、音楽、かっこいいメカ…
1964年に作られた作品とは思えないほどの素晴らしさです。
