現代に於ける（ハード）SKAファンには、シンプル且つライトな印象を受けるかと思います。
しかし、オリジナル・レゲ、SKAにビート感を増した彼らのサウンドは30年近く経つ今も全く時代を感じさせない。多くのROCK,MODSファンに支持される源流の様な作品です。
チョット牧歌的な印象を受けるイントロから始まるミディアムナンバーのM-1は、彼らの代表曲。
2曲目以降の緩急織り交ぜたナンバーはバラエティーに富んでおり、彼らを知るのは勿論、当時の２TONE　SKAブームを知る上でも重要作。

伝説の２トーンスカバンド、The Specialsのファーストです。とにかくいいです。当時のパンク(今のパンク感とは大分異なりますが…)とスカが見事に結びついて最高のサウンドを作り上げています。
って今さら説明の必要もないですけど。
その当時に生まれていればなぁ…とため息がでちゃいました…。

いつまでも色あせることのない大名盤!!ホントにおすすめ★ご飯一食我慢すれば買えます。(笑)学生さんなら学食３食我慢すれば買えます。よろしくお願いします。

ﾘﾘｰｽ当時は、ﾂﾊﾞｷ･ﾊｳｽでの暴動ﾗｲｳﾞやﾊﾟﾝｸ、ｽｶ、ﾚｹﾞｴなどの
いくつかのﾀｰﾑとともに括られて情報が流されていたので
結局、日本では単なるﾌﾞｰﾑで終わってしまった感がある。

改めて2002年ﾘﾏｽﾀｰ盤を聞くと その音の抜け方、
というかﾀﾞｳﾞ仕様に驚く。
ﾘﾏｽﾀｰされた事によって更にﾀﾞｳﾞの意匠は際立つし、
ﾄﾞﾗﾑｽとﾍﾞｰｽのﾎﾞﾄﾑ感覚は凄まじく腹に響く。
確かﾄﾞﾗﾏｰは白人であったはずだが、この完璧なﾚｹﾞｴ〜ﾀﾞｳﾞ・ﾏﾅｰは
素晴らしい。

何とﾌﾟﾛﾀﾞｸｼｮﾝはｴﾙｳﾞｨｽ･ｺｽﾃﾛだが、恐らく何も、特に
ﾐｯｸｽ･ﾀﾞｳﾝ関係にはﾀｯﾁしていないのではないか。

ｽｶとﾚｹﾞｴのﾊｲﾌﾞﾘｯﾄﾞ仕様かもしれないが、そもそもそんな意識すら
当時の彼らは持ち合わせていなかったと思われる。だからこそ
こんなとんでもない音楽を作り上げたのであろう。
ｽｶ･ﾋﾞｰﾄの疾走感も無論良いが、ﾚｹﾞｴ〜ﾀﾞｳﾞ･ﾏﾅｰのﾄﾗｯｸの心地よさは
格別。
ﾘﾏｽﾀｰ作業が丁寧に行われたであろう事が推測できる音の良さを堪能できる。

本ﾘﾏｽﾀｰ盤は、日本ﾘﾘｰｽのｱﾅﾛｸﾞ盤と違い、「gangsters」が入っていないのと
「too much too young」が長尺のﾀﾞｳﾞ･ｳﾞｧｰｼﾞｮﾝになっている。
このﾀﾞｳﾞ･ｳﾞｧｰｼﾞｮﾝがもう凄い。お腹に間違いなく、くる。

これで「gangsters」が入っていれば最高に嬉しかったのだが。
