ケニー・ホイラーって、こんなに素敵なフリューゲルホンを聞かせてくれんるんですね。マーク・コープランドの夢見心地のようなピアノの調べに乗せて、まるで宙を舞うようなフリューゲルホンがすごく魅力的です。アバクロンビーのギターもいつもになくセンチメンタルです。

ビル・エヴァンス派のピアニスト、マーク・コープランドとECMを代表する知性派コンテンポラリー系ギタリスト、ジョン・アバークロンビー、フリューゲルホルンの名手、ケニー・ホイーラーといういぶし銀の匠3人による究極のリリシズムが溢れる作品です。2000年の作品。

ジョン・アバークロンビーは同じビル・エヴァンス派のアンディ・ラヴァーンとの作品でも好演奏を聴かせてくれますが、ここではかつてのECMでの盟友ホイーラーが加わることで、何ともハートウォーミングで心安らぐ作品に仕上がっています。かつてはホイーラーの作品「Deer Wan」では静寂の中での激しい情念を表現していた彼らですが、年齢を重ねることで角もすっかり取れて、実に心地良さそうにプレイしている様が手にとるようにわかります。

安易に表現すれば「癒し＝ヒーリング音楽」ということになるかも知れませんが、匠3人による糸を丹念に紡ぐような丁寧な仕事ぶりが随所に光っています。
