1stはブラックメタルの名盤としてお馴染みですが、これは２ndです。
とてもフォーク色が強いです。
といっても1stの１,２曲目にあったような高揚感のあるフォークではありません。
メロディーも薄く（良い意味でもあり）、ただ暗く淡々としております。暗い民俗音楽です。
2曲目は短いですが名曲かと思います。2曲目のテンションで全曲続いて欲しかったのですが、、、
雰囲気は素晴らしいです。暗く深く生い茂った大森林の感じです。樹海サウンドです。
注意してくださいね。死にます。
アコースティックギターの暖かい音色と、北欧の冷たい寒々しさとのギャップがまた面白いかと思います。
アコースティックな音色で全編が彩られていて、その雰囲気は「ダーク・カントリー」と言っても良いかもしれません。
1stにあったデスボーカルはほぼ皆無。ドラムもほとんど廃されております。ほとんどがアコギの重奏です。
その為、全体を通して迫力不足に感じてしまう部分もあり、もっとアルバムに高揚感や抑揚が欲しかったかと。
悪く言ってしまうと「雰囲気だけ」なんだけど、でもその雰囲気が死ぬほどヤバいです。
「名盤」とは言えないかもしれませんが「重要盤」かもしれません。
(でも、様々なブラックメタルバンドがアンビエト系に移行した中では「名盤」と言っても良いかもしれません)
このバンドの2ndと3rdとでは変化が極端すぎちゃって、、、（2ndと3rdとでは全く真逆、、、「静」から「動」に転じかたのような）、
そこがまたこのバンドの面白いところかも。
エクストリーム、民俗音楽、テクノ、、、いろいろなジャンルをやっても、
音楽としての完成度が非常に高いバンドだと思います。才能があるんです。
（ロックを中心とした）幅広いジャンルの音楽を聴く方にはこの作品をお勧め出来ませんが(マニアック過ぎちゃって) 、
ゴシック系やケルト系、ヴァイキングな雰囲気、ファンタジー、民族音楽（あと内向的な感じ）が好きな人は必聴かもしれません。
ジャケットも神話的で美しいです。
