自分的にはプレステのホラーゲームの中で１番だと思った。
最初にプレイした時の衝撃はすごい。

発売した当時のホラーゲームの代名詞、バイオの演出とは全く異なる演出を用い、暗闇、霧、得体の知れないモノ、精神的恐怖を煽る演出は見事だった。

主人公もまったく無力の一般人で、プレイヤーも感情移入しやすく、次々に現れる異形の怪物を相手にした時の恐怖は別格！

ホラーゲームとしては、間違いなく満足できる傑作。

ホラーアクションゲーム。
アクションゲームなどやったことない私でもクリア可能。
操作方法は、多分バイオハザードと一緒ではないでしょうか。
それにしても面白かった！！
得体の知れない肉塊やら死体と思しきものやら内臓が無数に散らばっているのです。それも正確には判断できません。画像が荒くて、「これは、もしや…」としか思えないのです。そこがまた恐怖を助長させてくれる。床に散らばった訳のわからない液体の上で急停止するとしりもちをついたりと芸も細かい。
ＥＡＳＹしかプレイしてないからなのか知れませんが、イマイチ話が見えなかったのが残念。
「…？結局、なんだったんだっけ？」みたいな感じになります。
その点を考慮して星をランクひとつ下げました。
ビープ音に翻弄され、不気味な風景に翻弄され、悪夢と現実を行き来する。
それではみなさま。

「サイレントヒル」シリーズの第一作である今作は、怖い。ＰＳ２の画像に慣れている人がこのゲームをやったら、その画像の悪さにびっくりすること間違いなし、のゲームなのだが、やっているうちにだんだんとわかってくる。このゲームを作った製作者たちは、それを逆手にとっているのだ。粗すぎるグラフィックが逆にとんでもない恐怖をこれでもかと演出しまくっていて、プレイヤーがさまようことになる霧に包まれた街、サイレントヒルもその効果で不気味さがグレードアップしている。闇１００％の裏世界をライトひとつで探索するときも、同じ。悪夢そのまんまの世界が見事に演出されており、製作者の執念がにじみ出ている。特筆すべきはシナリオ。徐々に明かされるシナリオは、プレイヤーのがんばりでいくようにも変化し、計４種類のエンディングはすべて見る価値がある。いずれのエンディングでも物語の真実はちゃんとわかるようになっているので、それを気兼ねする必要はない。「子供にやらせたくないゲーム」で紹介されたゲームではあるものの、怖さ＆おもしろさ抜群なので、ぜひ一度やってみてほしい。もしかしたら、人生観が少しかわるかも・・・・・。
