マイケル・ナイマンが手がけたサントラって廃盤になっていたり
在庫僅少だったり、まとめて入手するのは大変です。
どれから聴いたら分からない時は迷わずこれ！

曲順も違和感無く、すばらしい音楽に浸れます。
個人的に"Chasing Sheep Is~"が大好き。
生で聴いた時はうっかり涙してしまいました。
根強いファンの多い「ガタカ」の音楽も悲しくて美しくて素晴らしいです。

ぜひ、聴いてください。

私が映画を見ていて音楽が気になることがあるとたいていマイケル　ナイマンが音楽を担当していることが多い。

もちろん映画自体も素晴らしいのだがナイマンの音楽がなかったらピーター　グリーナウェイの作品も「ピアノ　レッスン」もあそこまで美しく完璧な作品に仕上がらなかったように思うほどナイマンの音楽は素晴らしい。このアルバムは映画に使われたナイマンのベストアルバムである。
２枚組でこのお値段はお手ごろ。

時代順に並んだ傑作スコア群は極めて初心者向けでありながら、音楽家としての転換点を端的に指摘する一覧表の性格もあわせもつ稀有なアルバム。

初期から最新作まで、一貫してハイレベルな作曲能力を発揮しているが、やはりピアノレッスン以降の多少大衆向けに演奏された曲群が好きです。

ナイマン作品の不思議なところは、サントラを聞いて感動しても、映画作品を観る気はあまり高まらない点だ。映画作品より、自分の身の回りの風景に溶け込んでしまう変わった性質を持っているように思える。

「ひかりのまち」のモリーなどは、劇場で観た際に、冒頭ロンドンの街並みをカメラがクルージングし、そこにただモリーが流れる……と、ただそれだけのシーンで涙があふれてきたので、音楽の力というものの底力に恐れおののいたものです。

試しに、i-podにモリーを入れて街に出てみよう！地下鉄、信号待ちの車のウィンカー、高速道路のトンネル、さまざまなものと化学反応を起こし、なぜかしらぬが涙が溢れてくる。ついでにいうと、深夜の飛行機の離陸時に「ガタカ」のディパーチャーを聴いたら……それはもう、切なくて切なくて、至福な鬱状態という不気味な心境でした。
