もともと暴威のデビューアルバム『MORAL』がニューウェーブのパンクロックだったことからしても、本作のように、噴火、火遊び、布袋火だるま、といったハードなアルバムは驚くには及ばない。BO0WY時代からの彼のファンであれば、ソロになっていろいろ試行錯誤してきたよりも、まさに本作のような路線でずっと来て欲しかった、と悔やまれるのではないか。

さまざま手をかけたわりには『fetish』の評価が今一つで、
そのツアーでふつうのロックンロールしたほうが、
うけたためか、
本作は全編ストレートな曲ばかり。
ハイブロウなロックンロールが展開されています。
13曲は多いせいか、
新旧とりまぜて、
武道館ライブしたところ、
これも大成功でした。
あとにはなにも残っていません…。

このオリジナルアルバムを聞いて、すぐ連想したことがある。1985年公開のセミドキュメント映画『コミック雑誌なんかいらない!』。主演の内田裕也に桑名正博が“そうゆうの、ロック乞食、ちゅうんじゃ!”とかみつく。設定はどうあれ自分のやってるロックを客観的に見れない『ロック乞食』。本作で、布袋がそうであるように思えてならない。
