阿佐ヶ谷のミニシアターでこの映画を初めて見て、帰りの電車で異様な興奮状態にあったのを、いまでもはっきりと覚えています。

失礼ながら岡本監督の作品はあまり面白いと思ったことがなかったのですが、これだけは良い意味で予想を裏切ってくれました。

既成のセオリーや文法でこの映画を語ることはできません。
そういう意味で大真面目に“奇跡の映画”だと思います。

　１９８６年の岡本喜八監督作品。筒井康隆の短編を原作に、音楽とギャグを全編に織り交ぜた作品。原作を変に膨らませるようなことはせず、こじんまりとした軽い作りにしたのが成功で、その軽さが非常に気持ちよいです。低予算で作っているのがセットを見ても分かるのですが、それを逆手にとって効果的に使っているあたりは良い意味での「Ｂ級精神」。岡本監督、したたかです。小さなギャグを積み重ねてストーリーを展開する前半が特に快調なのですが、そのギャグも、シチュエーションやドタバタではなくて呼吸で見せる種類のものが多く、しかも「切れ」が良い！東宝時代の岡本監督を彷彿とさせ、見ていてうれしくなりました。クライマックスのセッションは「狂い咲き」という感じ、やや暴走気味かもしれませんが、これもまたよし。軽いゆえの楽しさがあふれた小傑作！

筒井康隆のスラップスティックコメディの映画化。
岡本喜八と相性がよいのか、原作の雰囲気そのままに映像化されている。

尺八、太鼓、琴の時代に４ビートのジャズメンが流れてきて、音楽好きの大名がはまってしまって、お城で大演奏会を催すという、筋立てで、絶対にありえないことをもし、こんなになったら、もし、こうなったらとして進めてゆくおかしさである。
筒井ファンには見逃せない映画でしょう。

筒井康隆のブラックな面や、会話のおかしさなどで、丁度ＴＶサイズがあっているかもしれない。
