2001年のワープド・ツアーで一躍注目を浴びたエイペックス・セオリーのデビュー作。システム・オブ・ア・ダウンと同じLAのアルメニア人コミュニティ出身のメンバーを中心とするバンドだけに、エスニックなテイストを活かしたメロディとアレンジを前面に押し出した音楽性は実に個性的だ。大きな枠で分類すればミクスチャー・ヘヴィ・ロックということになるが、地中海風のエキゾティック・メロディを武器に、テクニカルかつダイナミズムあふれるサウンドは、2002年の米ヘヴィ・ロック界の台風の目になりそうだ。 (保科好宏) --- 2002年03月号
