ヘレヴェッヘの２度目の録音のヨハネ受難曲です。１度目の録音（８０年代）も優れた名演でしたが、今回の２００１年の新録音は世界のバッハファンを驚かせるものでした。

この録音には通常版ではなく、バッハが１７２５年に上演した「第２稿」が使用されています。冒頭合唱にはマタイ受難曲の第１部の終曲コラールが使われ、最終曲のコラールも別の曲です。その他いくつかのアリアが通常版とは違う曲になっています。バッハマニアならぜひ一度は聴いてみたいＣＤです。

したがって、このＣＤは初めて「ヨハネ」を聴くという初心者の方のファースト・チョイスにはあまりおすすめできません。まず通常版での演奏を聴いてから、このＣＤに取りかかってください。そうすればスゴく楽しめます・・・（＾＾）<!P>ヘレヴェッヘらの演奏はすばらしいものです。合唱・オケとも味わい深い、静かなたたずまいの奥底に熱い気持ちを秘めたような「大人」の表現がたまりません。
ソロ歌手もパドモア（福音史家＝テノール）、フォレ（イエス＝バス）、ショル（アルト）、ルーベンス（ソプラノ）ら名手たちが聴き手を完全にＫＯするような見事な歌唱を披露しています。

ヘレヴェッヘ指揮によるヨハネ受難曲の2001年新録音。1725年の第２稿を使用している。ソリストはシビッラ・ルーベンス(S)、アンドレアス・ショル(CT)、マーク・パドモア(エヴァンゲリスト、T)、ミヒャエル・フォレ（イエス、B）、セバスティアン・ノアク(B)。
一般に演奏される通常稿と第２稿との違いですぐに分かるのは、冒頭合唱曲といくつかのアリアが別の曲に差し換えられているところだ。冒頭合唱曲にはマタイ受難曲第１部の終結コラールが用いられている。
合唱とオーケストラの精度の高さは実に見事。合唱団の言葉のニュアンスも豊かで色彩美に溢れている。ソリストは感情豊かで、高音域ではビブラートも用いてスケールの大きい歌唱を聴かせてくれる。非常にドラマティックな演奏だが、熱気に溢れた演奏というのではなく、クリスタルな響きにはひんやりとした透明感が漂っている。イエス役のフォレとアリア担当のノアク、このバスの二人の声質が穏やかで優しい響きをしているので、洗練された響きも冷たくなりすぎず、聴き手を突き放してしまうような印象がないところが良い。
この見事な演奏で、通常稿の冒頭合唱曲をぜひ聴いてみたかったと思うのは、私だけではないはずだ。

「成し遂げられた」部分が泣けます。
とてもクリアで、淡々と進んでいくという印象。
これ！といって聴衆の気を引くインパクト（わざとらしいそれ）を置かずに。
ひとりで静かに泣きたい夜にはこれを聴きたい。
