ジュリー・アンドリュースの若い頃の歌声が聴けますヨ！
何とも初々しいジュリーの唄の数々です。 とくに高音がステキな魅力になっている点は後々の彼女の持ち味が既によく現れていて誰もが聞き惚れてしまうことでしょう。まあ、とりあえずお聞き下さいナ。

3.0 out of 5 stars 初々しすぎな1stアルバム, 2008/5/31
1958年、舞台「マイフェアレディ」でブレイクしたばかりの頃の初のソロアルバムがこれ。
アレンジは後にジュリーの映画での代表作「メリーポピンズ」「サウンドオブミュージック」も手がけることになるアーウィン・コスタル。

ガーシュウィンやアーヴィング・バーリンなど20世紀前半の名ソングライター達の曲をとりあげてるけど、同時期のジャズ〜ポピュラーアーティストとは違ってソプラノ系だからか、定番ど真ん中！からはちょっと外し気味な選曲です。

朝ドラヒロインかよ！なさわやかジャケ写でもわかるとおり、この頃のRCAレーベルでは「清楚なソプラノ」路線で売ってたらしく歌がかなり初々しい。ジャジーなセンスが必要なのに堅いなーっていうところもあるし、リバーブ感ゼロの硬めの音質がいかにも昔の録音ですっていう感じなのでジュリーの魅力がたっぷり！とはいえないかな。。。3,8,10など「初々しいソプラノ」がちゃんと活かされてる曲ももちろんいっぱいあるけど。

あと、ステレオ録音なのにモノラル仕様なので残念がる人も多いです。

RCA路線ならイギリス歌曲をとりあげた「ラス・ウィズ・デリケート・エア」の方が合ってるし、こなれたウマさなら60年代に入ってColumbiaで録音した「Broadway's Fair Julie Andrews」「Don't Go In The Lion's Cage」(この2つのカプリングCDも入手困難だけど、SONY/Columbia系のコンピレーションによく入ってるので探してみよう)の方がぶっちゃけててすき。

とはいえジュリーのアルバムだよ？？欲しくないわけないじゃん！！
ということでこれと「ラス〜」ともども世界初CD化してくれた日本BMGの人GJ！感謝です。
あとは「ローズマリー」スタジオキャスト盤もぜひどうかひとつ(＾ω＾)

｢ラス〜｣は紙ジャケだけど、こっちは普通の仕様で、1985年LP発売時の柳生すみまろ氏のライナーノーツ・曲解説・歌詞が入ってます。

他のジュリーのＣＤに比べると、おとなしめの曲が多いと思います。私は、ジュリーの活発な歌の方が好きなので、少し物足りない感じがしました。それに、全部の曲をかけても30分ちょっとと、短めです。ジュリーのベストを買うなら、thoughtly　modern　julie　の方が聞き応えがあるんじゃないかなぁ、と思います。
ですが、これには歌詞カードや説明書きもついていて、便利です。
