アルバム「ほほえみプレリュード」を土台に、Ａ面部分とＢ面部分の間にアルバム未収録の「He is コットン100％」と「美少女時代」をＡ・Ｂ両面交互に入れ、「裸足でヤングラブ」はシングルバージョンに変更、最後に「アテンションプリーズ」のカラオケを入れたりと、まさに能瀬慶子のすべてが味わえる一品です。唯一の心残りは、「裸足でヤングラブ」のアルバムバージョンがなかったことです。

この衝撃的な音程無視アイドルを初めて見たのはたしか中学生の頃だったと思う。あの頃の思い出は淡い記憶の中に薄れゆく今日このごろだが、決して忘れられない思い出もあるのだ。当時、ＴＶで能瀬慶子が「アテンション・プリーズ」を歌うたびに私は「お願いだから、もうやめてくれ！」と心の中でつぶやいたのだ。その絶妙な音のはずし方、天真爛漫な歌い方、そして不協和音の洪水は人を狂わせる麻薬のように私の脳に作用したのである。例えて言うならば、ヘミシンクに似ている。ヘミシンクとは、ロバート・モンロー研究所が開発した体外離脱を起こさせる特殊な技術のことで、ある特殊な音を聞くことによって魂が別の次元へトリップしてしまうのであるが、彼女の歌を聴くこととヘミシンクを体験することはある意味で似ているのだ。いうなれば魂の体験である。彼女の奏でる不協和音は体外離脱さえも引き起こしかねないほど人を狂気に導く。そしてその狂気の果ては夢遊病のような、船酔いのような、ひどい吐き気をもよおすほどおぞましい効果を発揮するのである。だが、この常軌を逸したような無謀なレコード（ＣＤ）を製作してくれた音楽会社に、ある意味尊敬の眼差しを向けることも可能である。それにしても「アテンションプリーズ」、「裸足でヤングラブ」を作曲した浜田省吾は、初めてこの曲を彼女が歌ったとき、どれほど衝撃を感じたのだろうか。そのとき浜田省吾はどんな顔をしていたのだろうか。興味が尽きない曲である。

アイドルとして過不足なく、ファンを幸せにした彼女。短い間でしたが出番は大変多かったです。ファンには説明無用ですが、ラストシングル『美少女時代』は、楽曲・歌詞・歌い手すべてがアイドルの真髄を完璧に表現した内容です。現代とは世間がまるっきり違うので想像力が必要ですが、今の人が聞いても歌唱力や演技力をけなす心無いサイトが吹っ飛んでしまうほどせつなく愛しい気持ちになること請け合いです。
