Disc 1 includes the bonus session tracks 'The Battle Of Marston Moor' & '10538 Overture' plus enhanced CD section featuring memorabilia and original promotional film for '10538 Overture'. 24 bit remastered. Disc 2 is a limited edition bonus CD featuring previously unreleased material, 11 tracks. Two standard jewel cases housed in a slipcase.

エンハンストで収録の「10538overture」ビデオクリップが凄いです。
初期ELOの映像を収録した唯一のものでしょうから、ファンはこれだけでも
購入の価値があります。
リマスター効果は以前のものと比べて大きな違いを感じません。
2枚目も貴重なテイクばかりですが編集が中途半端な印象な為、

おまけでブートレグがついたくる、という程度に思った方が良いでしょう。

　ＥＬＯのEMI傘下HARVEST音源については91年に1stと2ndLPに加えシングル盤と4ch Stereo Mixを収録した EARLY YEARS(２枚組)が発売されていたが、No Noise Systemを使用してマスタリングされており、当時としては音質・内容とも決定盤と言っていい出来であった。（98年日本でも発売）
　よって、本CDがたとえ2枚組のうえ特典映像が収録されていても高価な値段とボーナスに4ch Stereo Mixを見ただけで、前作に尾ヒレをつけた程度の安易な再発と思って購入を見送った。　しかし、2ndLPが同じく2枚組で発売されるに至り我慢できずに購入したが、感想は「もっと早く買えば良かった。」である。

　ブックレットによればEMIはFirst Light Seriesと呼ばれるMOVE・ELO・Roy Woodの復刻プロジェクトを進めており、詳細なリサーチによる全音源の所在の確認とチェックが行われている。　Disc１1のプロモーション・フィルムの完全版は今回発見された。（エンハンスドCD仕様のため画像は粗い。）　Disc２2のアセテートはドイツのコレクターから提供された。　4ch Stereo Mix４曲の前作とのダブりは１曲のみ。　未発表テイクの他ライブ音源も４曲追加。

　音場は古典的な左・中央・右の３点Stereo。　弦楽器はかなりのオン・マイクで録音されており、左右に振り分けることでセパレーションを強調し、Stereo感を高めながらグイグイ前に出てくる。　ヴォーカルは中央に定位して少しオフ・マイク気味に奥行きを出している。　今回の24bitsマスタリングでは幾分音の分離が良くなった他、ヴォーカルの質感が改善されている。
　
　特典映像と画像に加え詳細なブックレット、歌詞・対訳・解説が付属。　とにかくクラッシック・ロックの何たるかを見事に表現したオススメの１枚である。
