「日本の宝やね」(山崎まさよし)、「あれは神の声だね」(スガシカオ)という各方面大絶賛の中、元ちとせがついにメジャー・デビュー。その圧倒的な声の魅力からは、失われた日本の原風景が見える。


内容 (「CDジャーナル・レビュー」より)

これまでインディーズで2枚のミニ・アルバムをリリースしている元ちとせ、これがメジャーでのデビュー・シングルになる。タイトル曲の「ワダツミの木」は、レピッシュの上田現の作詞・作曲。カップリングの2曲も自らの作詞・作曲ではなく、あくまでシンガー。奄美大島出身で、高校3年で奄美民謡大賞の大賞を史上最年少で受賞するという、実力派だ。今回のシングルはいずれもポップスで、いわゆる奄美・沖縄のテイストを持つものではないが、民謡で鍛えられた芯の強さのようなものは、ヴォーカルの随所に感じられる。 (角野恵津子) --- 2002年02月号

はじめてワダツミの木をきいたときは衝撃を受けました。ゆったりと、でも力強く押し出す歌声がものすごく印象に残りました。歌詞については賛否両論あるようですが、私はとても好きです。すごい！

心に沁みるような歌声は、古来から人が持ちつづけてきたやさしさ、たくましさ、せつなさ、いとしさを感じさせてくれます。
ちょっと、疲れている人、悲しんでいる人、恋をしている人に、ぜひ聞いていただきたいＣＤです。
きっと、きっと大丈夫って、抱きしめてくれるような歌３曲ですよ。

神秘的でいてどこか懐かしい…。
そんな、心を叩く歌声に言葉もありませんでした。
考えるより何より、とにかく是非、是非、聴いてみてください。

張り詰めていた何かがふぅっ、と解きほぐされる…凛とした唄をどうか感じてみてください。
