　同系列の前作エキスパート１と比べると、デッキの最大枚数が６０枚になったのは嬉しい。相手に勝ったときに選べる拡張パックの種類が最初から多いのは少々戸惑う。手探りで進んでいく感じである。
　今回は特定の相手キャラにおいて、最初に配られる手札がほぼ固定になる設定が見られる。つまり最初の段階で必ず毎回同じカードが相手の手札に来るわけで、もちろんそれらを使ったコンボで厳しい攻撃を加えてくる。当然こちらの手札は毎回バラバラなので、よほど最初から手札に対抗策がない限り勝つのは難しい。孔雀舞は必ずハーピィ・レディを分身させ、海馬なんぞは打つ手なしの１ターンキルを平気でやってくる。この時点でカードゲームは破綻。ただの嫌がらせでしかない。デュエルモンスターズのゲームは多いが、特にエキスパートシリーズはシミュレーターとしての要素が強いことがコンセプトだったはず。製作側視点の下手な小細工でカードゲームとしての基本が崩れることはじつに残念である。

エキスパート5から始めた自分にとっては、パックの増加などが豊富にあり、幾分楽しいデュエルが期待できるソフトだ。
しかし、遊戯・海馬・木馬・孔雀は、出始めの手札が決められているパターンがある。
遊戯は磁石の戦士のコンボで、1キルを狙ってくるし、海馬と木馬はデビルフランケンと究極龍コンボで1キルをしてくる。はっきり言って、飽きる。エクゾディアがゲーム開始時に5枚揃うほど確率が低いのに、このゲームの設定には不満が残る。こちらがLv4以下で、守備力が800以上あるモンスターとマジックジャマーを開始時に2枚所持していれば、コンボは回避できるが、それでもバルキリオンや究極龍・三姉妹と、強豪揃いで、実に頭を使う。
そこら辺のシステム改善をして欲しいと思います。

デュエルを楽しみたい人にお薦めします。
それ以外の楽しみは…あまりないかも、です。

最初の貧弱デッキで勝てる相手は限られており
遊戯や海馬兄に勝利するのは至難でしたが、
ひとまずある条件をクリアしたり、とある敵に勝利すれば
新しいデュエル大会もはじまり、それ以降はある程度は
無敵感覚でデュエルを楽しめます。
