ブラックサバスをこのアルバムではじめて聞いた僕は７０年代の音だし現在の進歩している音と比べるとどうだろう？ＨＭといってもそこまでは・・・と聞く前には正直そんな風に考えてました。・・・がしかし、そんな考えは、一曲目のタイトル曲のブラックサバスでブッ飛んでしまいました。重苦しく鳴り響くギターそして押しつぶされるような低いヴォーカル・・・こんな曲は今まで聞いたことが無く衝撃を受けました！重いのが好きな人はぜひ！ついでにジャケットと曲が合ってます（笑）

5.0 out of 5 stars 既にデビュー時点で独自のスタイルを確立, 2004/8/7
BLACK SABBATHは数多くの代表作を持つが、デビュー作である本作にて既に基本姿勢は確立されていたと言える。このバンドは単に邪悪なイメージだけで語られるには勿体無いグループで、控えめに言っても優れたロックバンドだと言える。なのに黒魔術だの密教的だの言われるのは、Tonny Iommiの特徴あるヘヴィなギターサウンドだけではなく、本人達は否定しているにせよ、往年のフラワームーブメント時代のサイケデリックサウンドの洗礼を彼らは受けているはずなのである。そのためか、彼らのサウンドには引き込まれる何かが感じられる。その意味でも、本作は次作以降の有名作品とも少し一線を画す作品でもある。

ブラック・サバスのデビュー作として、歴史的価値のある１枚。
音楽的には所謂ブルーズ・ロックで、さほどメタリックとは・・・
部屋の中で酒飲みながらダラダラゴロゴロしてるのに良さげ。
個人的に、彼らは３ｒｄの「マスター・オブ・リアリティ」で
へヴィメタルになったと思います。
（２ｎｄ「パラノイド」で既に兆候はあったものの）
