イエスと言えば、プログレ・バンドの中でもライブ映像が数多く発売されているが、この作品はデビュー(1969年）から8人イエス結成（1991年）までのイエスの歴史をたどるドキュメンタリー。デビュー当時の初々しい（特に今では神の領域に達しているビル・ブラッフォードが坊やだ！！）映像では荒々しい演奏が聞け、それが次第に洗練されていくのがよくわかる。初期の名作「Yours is no disgrace」は今でもライブで演奏される息の長い作品だが、このDVDではアルバムリリース当時のスタジオ・ライブ映像（口パク？）が収録されているが、その姿は荒々しい迫力に満ちており、新鮮に感じる。また、以前はビデオが発売されていた「ロンリーハート時代」のライブ映像では、エアロビ・スタイルのようなスポーティーな格好のJonの姿が姿がほほえましい。未公開ライブ映像もふんだんに使われており（ただし、フル・コーラスではない）、イエスファンにはたまらない作品。2002年5月にはリック・ウェイクマンが再びイエスに入ったとのこと。これを記念して1991年以降の「イエスイヤーズ」も作って欲しいものだ。

ＹＥＳがデビューしてから、このビデオの製作された１９９１年までを貴重な映像とメンバーインタビューで構成された、見始めたら目を離せなくなる１３５分間。ＹＥＳに在籍した主要メンバーのインタビューから、それぞれ、幼い頃から音楽に親しんだ事が共通点になっている事が判る。どおりで演奏が凄い訳だ！初期の「こわれもの」「危機」でファンになった人には、ジョン・アンダーソンやスティーブ・ハウの居ない通称「バグルス時代」の録音風景も面白い。プロデューサーとして活躍しているトレバー・ホーンが力道山（古い！知っている人は間違いなく中年）のように、黒タイツでスタジオにいるショットやクリムゾンファン（私も）にはたまらないビル・ブラッフォード参加の「イージー・マネー」のほんの短い綺麗なカラー映像など、出来れば、それぞれの元の映像をノーカットで単売して欲しい位。８人編成ＹＥＳは、単売されましたが、まず、ＹＥＳの代表曲はほぼ網羅（断片ですが）し、ファンなら持っていたい逸品です。メンバーの２３年間の容貌の変化も楽しめます。廉価版も出ているようなので、見つけたら即、買いましょう。楽しめます！

　初期の映像から、ユニオンの時期まで、イエスに興味があって、イエスの歴史や変遷を知りたいなら絶対おすすめのDVDです。初期のギタリスト、ピーター・バンクスの映像も含めて、貴重な映像をたくさん見ることができます。メンバー個々のインタビューを見ると、各アルバム時のグループの状態がわかり、改めてCDを聞き直す機会にもなります。メンバーが替わるたびに新しいエネルギーを吸収し、進化し続けてきたイエスの映像における集大成といってもよい作品でしょう。
