ハリウッド映画のような派手さはないけど、後々までいつまでも心に残る暖かいヒューマン・ドラマ。すばらしい作品です。細かいことは敢えて書きませんが、ぜひ見てください。このころ毎年60本は映画を見に行ってましたが、その数年で見た映画で一番よかったし、唯一泣けた映画でした。

原題はSOLAS、訳せば「女二人で」となるのだろうか。母と娘の物語である。
かつて暴力をふるっていた病床の父親、犬と暮らす老紳士を交えて物語り
は展開していく。老紳士によってマリアの願いが意外な形で実現していく
様子は、思わず応援してしまいます。お勧めの作品です。

　35にもなっている娘（アナ・フェルナンデス）を、老いた母（マリア・ガリアナ）は赤子のように慈しみ、限りない愛情を注いでいます。決して恵まれた家庭生活を送ってきたわけではないこの母の献身的な姿に、胸を打たれました。

　娘はそんな母に以前から強い反発を覚えていますが、みずからが親になるかもしれないときを迎えて、家族というものに懐疑的だった頑なな心が揺れ動きます。

　そしてもうひとり、娘と同じアパートに住む老人（カルロス・アルバレス・ノボア）も犬だけが唯一の家族という暮らしを続けています。映画の中では特段説明はありませんが、登場人物たちの言葉の訛りで、これがアンダルシア地方の物語であることが分かります。アンダルシアのスペイン語は語末の＜ｓ＞が発音されないのが特徴です。しかしこの老人だけはその語末の＜ｓ＞をきちんと発音しているので、彼がよそ者であることがわかります。この言葉の違いが、彼がこの街では孤独な存在であることを一層際立たせるのです。

　家族というものを一旦は信じられなくなった孤独な人々が、もう一度家族の新しい絆を築いていくというこの映画の主題には、静かで素直な感動を覚えました。見終わった後に親孝行をしなくちゃダメだな、という気分にもさせられました。お勧めの一本です。
