T-SQUAREの中でもこのアルバムは私の一番のお気に入りです。最初にこのアルバムを聞いたときには感度の嵐でした。特に一曲目のメガリスは今までのT-SQUAREと違った雰囲気で始まり、確か伊東たけしに変わって本田雅人が参加した初アルバムで、彼の才能を見せ付けられました。

ドラムの則武裕之とベースの須藤満のかけあいで始まるナブ・ザット・チャップはドラマチックな展開とトリッキーなリズムとがあいまって高い完成度を保っています。最後に本田雅人のバラード、ホエン・アイ・シンク・オブ・ユーで締めくくり余韻が気持ちよく残ります。
皆さんも是非聞いてください。

テクニシャン肌の本田雅人が加入した初のアルバム。バンドサウンドが、今までどちらかというと雰囲気で聞かせていたものを演奏力で聴かせるようになります。このアルバムは甘い雰囲気がほとんどありません。どこか厳しく凛とした雰囲気が全体的に感じられます。日本一有名なフュージョンバンドの不動のメンバーと思われたところに新加入した本田雅人は、多大なプレッシャーの中、非常に完成度の高い曲を作らざるを得ないかのように曲を練り上げているように思います。また、迎え撃つ同年代のリズム隊がライバル意識をむき出しで存分に力量を発揮し、古参の２人が全体をまとめ上げるというほとんど理想的な状態をこのアルバムでは実現しているようです。グループのまとまりがまだ完全でない分かえって演奏は充実していて、これ以降のアルバムではあまり感じられない演奏そのものメリハリやスリルを感じることができます。発売当時は前作までと毛色の違うアルバムに戸惑いも若干ありましたが、今の耳で聞いてみると実はこのアルバムがベストなのではないかという思いが年々強くなっています。

t-squareの全アルバムの中で、このタイプのアルバムはNEW-Sだけだと思います。　パワフルな曲もあるのに、全体的なイメージは森林の中にいるような感覚を思い浮かべてしまいます。透明感あふれる超名盤です。　個人的にはスクエアの全アルバムの中で一番のお気に入りです。
