ウータンの魅力は、もちろんそれぞれのＭＣのキャラというのもあるだろうけれども、やはり、歪でキレまくりの生々しいビートにあったと思う。そしてそれは２ndを頂点に、徐々に失われてしまっていた。
そして今作、だいぶ力が入っているらしくは聞こえるが、やはりキレがない。既に役割を終えてしまったかのような哀しさを感じてしまった…

　1年振りにリリースされたこのアルバム『IRON FLAG』は彼らウータン・クランにしては早い期間でのリリースとなった。前作「The W」よりかはウータンらしいアルバムと言ってもいいかもしれない。RZAが全体的にプロデュースを担当しており、彼の奇才ぶりがうかがえる。注目したいのは＜１０＞「Back in the game」におけるトラックマスターズ＋ロン・アイズリーの参戦だと思う。ロンのソウルフルな声がいい感じにウータンにからんでおり個人的には好きである。メンバー個々人もソロ活動・映画への出演などと活躍の場も飛躍的に広がっており、メソッド・マンにおいてはレッド・マンとともに映画「How High」にて主演の座を射止めている。

俺がwu-tangを知った初めてのアルバムがこれだ。それまではJAY-ZやEMINEMなどのmain-streamを中心に聞いていたがこれを聞いて衝撃を受けた。客の穴にキスしまくるような腐ったrapとは違い、darkでかつdeepなbeats。streetを意識した狂犬のようなrhymeは今の商業化したhip-hipに一石を投じるものであったからだ。P.DIDDYにやられてる奴の耳を劈く事請け合いの本格rapを貴方はどう受け止めますか？
兎にも角にもお勧め！１聴の価値あり!!
