1、２枚目までは荒削りでブラックミュージックの色濃い影響が見られていたJAPANの、記念すべき３作目。劇的に洗練された曲調になり、アルトサックスやストリングスも採り入れ一気にアレンジ面での成長が見られた。JAPANのもつ優れた音楽性が誰にも証明された嬉しい作品。

このアルバム発表前のブランクには、当時ブロンディのプロデューサーだったジョルジオ・モロダーを迎えたシングル「LIFE IN TOKYO」を発表。このシングルに物足りなさを感じていたのですが、「QUIET LIFE」の発売前に渋谷陽一氏のFM番組でオンエアされた１曲「HALLOWEEN」を聞いて、その素晴らしさと感動で膝が震えたことを思いだします。

JAPANの記念すべき３枚目のアルバムを、当時のLPジャケットを忠実に再現したジャケットで限定販売されているものです。JAPANの５枚のアルバムの中では、この作品が一番凝ったジャケットづくりがなされている（フィンコステロによる写真、２枚に折りたたまれたジャケット）もので、今回はＣＤそのものもＬＰのように薄いカシャカシャしたビニール袋に入れられているという芸の細かさ！紙ジャケ仕様の中ではこれが一番外せないですよ！

今までのさまざまな批判に対峙するのをやめ、まさに静かなることを選んだJAPANの３ｒｄアルバム。

ジャケ写からも世間との「決別」を感じさせます。

あまりの内向的故に新たな論議を醸し出したアルバムでもあります。

ロキシーのような華やかさとヴェルヴェッツの空虚な世界観を感じたりもします。オールトゥモロウ・・・もやってますけどね。　

後のニューロマンティックムーヴメントにも多大な影響を与えた功績はもっと評価されるべきでしょう。

２０世紀絶世の美少年と謳われた彼らの曲は美しくあり続けています。
