彼らの名誉の為に書いておくと、初期のアルバム2枚から
4曲しか収録されていないのは、途中でレコード会社が変わったからだ。
盤権を持つ『WEA Germany』からは、4曲しか使用許可が
貰えなかった為の事で、決して『今のレーベルのアヴァロンが損をするから』
とか、そういったビジネスの歪みが現れているからではない。

最大限努力した結果、4曲も入ったのだから、むしろ喜ぶべきだ。
勿論、全権をアヴァロンに譲ってくれれば、もっとシャープなベストに
仕上げてくれていた筈だろうが、そこは受け入れるしかない事実だ。

選曲について文句は無いが、曲順がなぁ。
元のアルバムの印象が強すぎるのか、どうもちぐはぐして聴こえる。

しかし、ラストを名バラッドの#17締めくくる所など、
アヴァロンの担当の方は、よく心得ていらっしゃる。
『自分の会社の曲を』と考えていない所からは、
ファンの視点から判断している事が、手に取るように分かる。

収録曲は確かに中途半端である。
しかし、どの楽曲も素晴らしいので、星の没収はナシ！

最後にちょっと…。

もし、このベストを出す時点でバンドが存在していたならば、
是非ともトミーに#17を歌い直してもらいたかったなぁ。
彼が最高級の歌を、何処まで再現できるか、又は追い越せるかとか。
すっごく興味津々だったのに…。
我々は、非常に惜しいバンドをなくしてしまった。

一応コンプリートベストということになってますが、初期2作からは4曲しか入っていない。収録曲は少しかぶりますが、EARLY WARNINGSと本作2つでコンプリートと呼ぶにふさわしいと思います。それにしてもトミー・ハートの成長ぶりは目を見張るものがありますね。ほんとにいいVoです。

生粋のメロディアス・ハードロックが心を打ちます。
楽曲も良く練りこまれていて奥の深さを感じます。
多少、おしとやかな楽曲が大人の雰囲気を醸し出します。
重厚なコーラスワークに引き込まれます。
ずばり熟年の為のハードロック
