コジェルフ(1738~1814)は、モーツァルトの後任としてウィーンの宮廷作曲家も務めたボヘミア出身の作曲家。コンチェルト・ケルンが彼の優美な交響曲を蘇らせる。

レオポルド・コジェルフ(1747~1818)といっても、大半の人はご存じないかも。彼はプラハ近郊に生まれ、モーツァルトの後任としてザルツブルクの宮廷音楽家にという話を蹴り、後にウィーンの皇王室宮廷カンマー・カペルマイスターやら宮廷作曲家などという地位にまで昇り詰めた、いわば当時の音楽エグゼクティヴであった。ちなみに交響曲(実態は小規模なシンフォニア)は11曲が残されているようで、この盤にはその中から4曲が収録されている。ハイドンやモーツァルトらと同時代の作曲家ゆえ、そのメジャーな二人に作風が似ているのは当然だが、それは影響というより当時の時代風潮そのものであり、その中で突出し淘汰されて残ったのが、ハイドンでありモーツァルトだったということか。頑張っているんだけれど、常にどこかでメジャーな二人と比べられてしまう損な人であり作品である。コンチェルト・ケルンのスッキリと快活な演奏でコジェルフを慰めてあげよう。 (石原立教) --- 2002年01月号
