ウォルター・ヒル監督の1979年の作品。当時アメリカでは、映画のストーリーと同じように、ストリート・ギャングが映画館で暴動を始めたことでも話題になり問題視された。しかし、今この作品を見てみると、ヒル監督（『ラスト・マン・スタンディング』）が目指したとおりの、スタイリッシュで柔軟な表現方法で撮られていることがわかる。ストーリーは、ニューヨークを舞台に繰り広げられる。敵対するギャングのテリトリーをくぐり抜け、自分の縄張りを目指すウォリアーズの姿をスピード感あふれる映像で描き出す。映画は、アメリカン・コミックのようなテンポ、人工的な色彩、寓話のようなトーンで進む。現実を見せつけるわけでも、退廃的なファンタジーの世界を紡ぎだしているのとも違う。とはいえ、ストリート・ギャングの行動は現在の若者を予感させるものだし、タフな映画であることに変わりはない。ヒル監督が後に手がける『ストリート・オブ・ファイヤー』もうまく練られた作品でロック・オペラの代表格となったが、それ以上の魅力すら持った作品がこの『ウォリアーズ』である。（Tom Keogh, Amazon.com）
