【ストーリー】
■第9話
はじめての正月を迎えた純と蛍はスキーに熱中。草太や雪子とスキー旅行に出かけるが、その留守中に東京から令子がやってきた。令子は子供達に会わせて欲しいと五郎に頼むのだが．．．
■第10話
車で買い出しに出かけた純と雪子だったが、にわかに降り出した大雪のため遭難してしまう。そのうえ村は停電になってしまい大混乱。自動車も役に立たない中2人を救ったのは杵次の馬ソリだった。

   東京に暮らしていた黒板一家だったが、妻・令子の浮気がきっかけで夫婦は別れ、夫・五郎は令子の反対を押し切って純と蛍、2人の子どもを連れて、若い頃に自身が逃げ出した北海道の富良野へと移住する。子どもたちにとって全身で感じる大自然と、都会に比べてあまりにも不自由なそれに対する反感、それに伴う父と子の葛藤、令子の子どもたちへの思い、そして彼らを取り巻く人々自身の人生のドラマ。自然は必ずしも優しく人間を受け入れてくれるわけではなく、人間も必ずしも正しく美しく生きられるわけではない。それでも強くたくましく、時には滑稽でさえありながらも生き続けていく姿を描ききった、TVドラマ史上に残る傑作。（田中　元）

第９話では自然の恵みとしてスキーを楽しむ主人公たちを、そして第１０話ではまだ自然の怖さを知らない主人公たち（純と雪子）が吹雪の中遭難し、九死に一生を得るストーリーが描かれている。

私のお気に入りは第１０話。雪に埋もれた純たちの車の捜索に、人間がなすすべを失う中で、老馬だけが何も言わず（当たり前だが）、ぴたりと探し出す姿に感動。また、￥厳しい吹雪でいわゆる文明の利器がまったく使えなくなる中（送電線が切れて停電すれば、照明はおろか、暖房、給水までとまってしまう・・・）、沢の水を引き、ランプで暮らす五郎たちの生活には打撃が少ない。便利な生活は人間を依存症にしてしまう！と痛感した（普段の生活ではそれすら気づかなくなってきていることの怖さ！）。

各巻楽しみにしながら集めています。
やはりこのシリーズは、すばらしい脚本、
北海道の自然が印象に残ります。
純と蛍がスキーに熱中しているシーンを
見ては、苗場等のゲレンデに衝動的に
出かけてしまうことがありました。

村の停電、遭難のシーンを見ると、都会には
ない苦労というものを考えさせられます。

私も暮らしてみたいと思うことがありますが、
こういう困難が描かれると、私の認識は
あまいのだろうなと反省することしきりです。

話がそれてしまいましたが、北海道という舞台、
そこで暮らす大人や子供の人間模様が
見逃せない名作だと信じています。
