一言で言うと、「緩急がある」
元気よく始まる一曲目、さわやかな二曲目、以降ちょっと飛行機での旅気分になったり、またノリよくなったりと、一粒で何度もおいしいＣＤだと思います。まさにベスト盤！

2001年リリース。日本コロンビアに在籍時のFPMの『モア・ベターなベスト盤(通称:ベター盤)』である。元々雑誌編集者からスタートして、今ではFATBOY SLIMと『THE BPA』何てユニットまで作っている田中知之の才能が光るアルバムだ。

聴いていて思うのは、コンピュータは最高の音楽のアーカイバだということだ。バッハの十二音平均律(1722年)→バークリー・メソッド(1950年)→MIDI(1983年)で分析された音楽の記号を解凍するものは当初ピアノだったが、今は違う。何しろコンピュータは既にMIDIだけでなく、サンプリング・データやMP3データなども格納してくれていて、田中知之みたいな論理派のコンポーザにとってはこの上もなく理想的な環境だろう。色々な音楽的実験を全部一台のPCの中だけでできてしまう。

このアルバムではジョー・ジャクソンの『Stepin' Out』やユーリズミックスの『There must be an Angel』などなかなかのリミックスで感心するが、最も面白いのは、『Hello And Good Bye -FPM Original Mix-』だと思う。ここのコーラス部分が頭にずっと残響し、こびり付く。是非とも聴いて欲しい。
