   前作『刻命館』をさらにパワーアップさせ、トラップシミュレーションとしての特徴を強くしたのが本作品である。本作では「刻人（トキビト）」と呼ばれる種族が存在し、その種族は人間から100個の魂を奪えば、寿命で死ぬことのない永遠の命を手に入れることができるという設定になっている。主人公のミレニアは、育ての親でもあり刻人でもあるヨカルからトラップの使い方と「人間は抹殺すべき生き物」という知識を得る。

   そして、「レッドブラッド」とよばれる調査隊の人間をつぎつぎとわなにはめていくのである。前作との大きな違いは、床にしか仕掛けられなかったわなが、今回は天井、壁、床の3種類の場所に仕掛けられるようになったこと。さらに、3種類のトラップは連続して作動可能であり、階段、スロープ、水路などの地形が、トラップに新たな効果を与える。回転のこぎり、やり、電気イスなどの仕掛けでさらに戦略性が増している。（岡田幸司）

アクションなのに直接攻撃できない。敵から逃げ､罠に誘い込んで戦うという
独特のシステムが魅力の刻命館シリーズのひとつ。
特にこの影牢はダークなストーリーが気分を盛り上げてくれる。
操作性がイマイチであることは否めないが､苦労して敵を罠にはめた時は
他のゲームには無い快感が味わえる。

思わず喜ぶ自分が恐ろしくなる辺りもこのゲームならではだろう。

侵入者を迎撃していくという趣のアクションゲーム。暗めのストーリーと世界観に契合した傑作な音楽が一体となって独自の雰囲気を醸成している。アクションゲームと銘打ってはあるが、実際にはパズルゲームのような感覚も併せ持つと思う。侵入者をトラップという技法で撃退していくわけだが、このトラップの構成にパズルゲームのような発想が要求される。とはいえ、習熟するのはそれ程難しくもなく、ゲーム自体も音楽からキャラクターまでいい完成度なので、未体験の方は一度プレイしてみてはどうかと。

トラップで人を倒すゲームです。トラップを開発し、トラップの配置や、戦闘する舞台にあるオブジェや地形を利用し、連鎖していくと、コンボという形でつながり、点数も高くなります。音楽も結構、個人的には悲壮感があらわれていて美しいと思います。グラフィックはちょっと今見ると粗い方ですが、このゲームは忙しいので、やっている内に気にならなくなる程度だと思います。そしてお得なマルチシナリオ、エンディングです。あと、私はよく３Ｄ酔いする方ですが、影牢では、酔いませんでした。３Ｄタイプのものは酔うものが多いのであまり手が出せませんでしたが、嬉しかったです。以下はネタバレを含むので、気になる方は読まないで下さい。ストーリーは単純ですが、しっかりしています。人をトラップに、というのはかなり残酷なものです。でも人を消す、というのは、最近のゲームでは珍しくなくなったので、気にしなくなった人も多いと思います。その中で、この刻命館シリーズの良い所は、人を消すという事は、それなりの代償があるものなのだという事が貫かれている気がします。それが、生きる為だとしても、だまされていたとしても。
