小粒だけれどぴりっとした曲でよくまとまったアルバムだと思います。
どれもいい曲ですが、自分としては、やはり「宝島」が好きですね。さわやかで。

このアルバムから則竹裕之氏がDrumsとして参加するのだけれど、彼が加わって以降、Drumsが単なるリズム楽器ではない、旋律を持った楽器に聴こえるように思います。見事です。

おまけ：ジャケットの、メンバーが全員で泳いでいる写真もユニークですが、蓋を開いてその裏側を見ると、笑えます。

伊東たけし氏ソロセカンドアルバム”EL SEVEN”の影響を
多大に受けたスクエアの中でも異作の部類にはいるのでは？

過度に利いたエフェクトのナンバーの中で安心して聞くことが
出来た”宝島”はLyriconで歌い上げた傑作でしょう。

６作目脚線美からメンバーが固定化し、味な作品群を残すも、ついにジャニーズ出身のドラマー長谷部君から則竹にスイッチした転機的作品。何といってもドラムの定位がおもしろい上（ドラムそのものにマイクをあてがわずスタジオライブを拾ったような重たい音なのだ）、８ビート主体だったサウンドも１６ビートが増え、オーヴァーダヴや緻密さが出てくるようになってきた。特に宝島はその典型であり、キーボードに関していえばエレピの32小節ソロは、シャカタクのナイトバーズなどと並ぶキーボーディスト必聴プレイだ。この作品でベースの田中豊雪もグループを去ってしまう。次回名作ＴＲＵＴＨでスムーズジャズの地位を確立することになるのだが、TRUTHと前作リゾートではまるっきりといっていい程サウンドが違うので、このアルバムは最盛期スクエアへの足がかり的作品といえよう、非常に興味深い。
