76年、フォーライフ・レコードの設立に参加した小室等、吉田拓郎、井上陽水、泉谷しげるの4人が発表したクリスマス・アルバムの再発。今回は新装ジャケットでの発売となった。クリスマスの意味がすっかり別のものになってしまっている日本では、あまり発売されることのないクリスマス・アルバムという点でも貴重だが、この作品には、この時点での4人のキャラクターが明確に記録されてるのが興味深い。バイタリティに満ちた泉谷、どんな曲も自分のものにする拓郎、淡々と我が道をゆく小室、陽水。あらためて聴くと面白い。 (鈴木祐) --- 2002年01月号

吉田拓郎、井上陽水、泉谷しげる、小室等のフォーライフ創立者4人が75年に製作したクリスマスアルバムです。当時人気絶頂といっていい彼らが一堂に会したアルバムですがセールス的に惨敗してフォーライフの屋台骨がぐらついたといういわくつきの作品でもあります。4人の中では泉谷と陽水がいちばん頑張っている印象です。拓郎はオリジナル曲は歌っていませんが泉谷作曲の「街を片手に散歩する」のシャウトは最高だし「Blowin'in the wind」ではディランになりきったヴォーカルを聴くことが出来ます。決して名盤とはいえないですがこの4人が揃ってアルバムを製作することは2度とないでしょうから音楽史的には貴重な作品といえるのではないでしょうか。

発売当時、20万枚限定盤として発売されたが、翌年の夏に まだレコード屋にあったっけなー。


他の方々のレビューは 評価が低いけど、僕は星5つ。

井上陽水の「夏願望」が 兎に角good。 「夏願望」は、通常アルバムには入っていなくて、このアルバム以外は 高額のボックス集にしか収録されていないから、とても貴重なのだ。

小室等の「O holy night」で、クリスマスの季節によく聴くこの曲が、実は「アメリカの賛美歌2番」だということを、初めて知りました。

残念ながら、本CDでは「O holy night」の歌詞が割愛されています。

蛇足ですが、賛美歌は国によって異なり、韓国では「蛍の光」も 賛美歌です。

泉谷しげるの「赤鼻のトナカイ」も、サッチモ風で好きです。


遊び心アリアリのCDです。
大らかな気持ちで聴きましょう。

年末の大掃除の日、
掃除機の音に負けない大きさで鳴らして
わせわせと働くのに、ぴったり！
コレクションの完成にしかならないとか、
名盤じゃない、とか。
どうせ企画盤だもの、目くじらをたてることはありません。
要は、年に一度の大掃除のサントラに、
この金額を出してもいいか、いやなのか。
それだけのことです。
だから、普段聴きには星一つでも、大掃除の日は星三つ。
他のところでも、私、くどいほど書いていこうと思いますが、
星の評なんて、だから、あてにならない、しちゃダメよ。
ましてや会ったことのない他人の評なんてね。
