メタル・ゴッドJUDAS PRIESTの5thアルバム。
JUDAS PRIESTは｢SCREAMING FOR VENGEANCE｣以降｢産業メタル」化するが(勿論それ以降の作品も名作中の名作が揃っている)、
それ以前の作品の中ではこのアルバムが一番バランス的に優れている。
重々しいのにキャッチー、シンプルなのに高尚。
絶妙なバランスが作品を貫いている。

彼らのライヴには欠かせない超名曲"Hell Bent For Leather"も入っているし、古臭い音質がガマンできるヘヴィ・メタル・ファンにはマスト・アイテム。

せにょ~~る、本日は１９７８年リリースの殺人機械を御紹介させていただきます。リリース当時、時はあたかもニューウエイブオブブリテッシュヘビーメタルのムーブメントが巻き起こっていおりました。まさに時代と言う環境が彼等に追い付いた瞬間を捕らえたアルバムと言えるかもしれません。

前作品でのハード＆ヘビーネスをさらに磨きをかけたもので、でっかいバイクを乗るかたなら思わずにやりなジャケットデザインになっております、実際ジューダスのコンサートにはバイク乗りのかたたちがおおございます。スピーディーな要素とアグレッシブな要素が同居しており、プラスすばらしいバラードが聞けるのが本アルバムの特色でございます。

なおアメリカ盤はタイトルを変更されております、KILLという単語がひっかかったのですね。『HELL BENT FOR LEATHER』というタイトルでリリースされております。『殺りくのバイブル』という邦題は意味がわかりかねますが。いまならば『スピード狂アンセム』として立派に機能すると思われます。またレコード会社の販売促進担当の圧力によりフリートウッドマックのカバーをやらされております。

つい、紙ジャケにつられて買っちゃったけど、ブックレットが無くてさびしい。
７月に発売する分も買う予定でしたが、やめて通常版を買おうかなと思っています。
