   雫は中学3年生。両親と大学生の姉とともに東京近郊の団地に住む、ごく普通の読書好きの女の子だ。そんな雫が親しくなった同級生の少年は、中学を卒業したらすぐに、バイオリン職人になるためにイタリアに渡ると言う。進路について深く考えていなかった自分に気づいた雫が、自分のやりたいこととして選んだのは…。

   脚本とプロデュースを宮崎駿、監督は数々のジブリ作品でキャラクターデザインや作画監督を務めた近藤喜文が担当。思春期の迷いや焦り、そして出会いがもたらす成長を、変わりゆく季節の様子とともにみずみずしく描き上げた。

   特筆すべきは、背景の描き込みの細やかさ。団地の階段や学校の廊下、街なかの看板に至るまでリアルに、しかし温かみを持って描写され、これが「特別な人の物語」ではないことを示しているようだ。これから巣立ち、自分の道を歩む人たちにふさわしい歌として原曲を大胆に翻案したテーマソング「カントリーロード」も印象的。見終わるころにはコンクリートでできた街並みに不思議な郷愁を覚える、そんな秀作である。（安川正吾）

ジブリ好きで時々購入しています。中学生の月島雫と天沢聖司のさわやかな青春ラブストーリーです。雫は何の目標もない自分に悩んでいた時、ふっとしたことから聖司と知りあう。聖司は、中学生でありながらヴァイオリンを作る職人になるためにがんばっていた。聖司は、図書館の本を通じて、雫のことを知っていて、雫は聖司と何度か会ううちに、少しずつ恋心がめばえていく。その時、聖司はイタリアへヴァイオリン職人の見習い修行に行ってしまった。時が流れ、聖司が帰ってきた。雫に自分の気持ちを伝えハッピーエンドに！その過程がとてもさわやかにストーリー展開していくのが、”恋愛”のすばらしさを表現しているいい作品だと思います。聖司君の家で、聖司君のヴァイオリンに合わせて雫が「カントリー・ロード」の歌を合唱するシーンが印象的で大好きです。

　この映画を観終えた直後に思ったのが、「恥ずかしい」の一言だった。なぜなら、自分にも身に覚えのあることが、余りに直接的な表現で描写され過ぎているからだ。男って、普段は強気でいばっていることが多いけれど、本当は「臆病で傷つきやすい生き物」だということを、この作品で全女性に暴露されてしまった。「あなたにも、そんな時期があったのねー（笑）」と家内にも冷やかされる始末。大人には「懐かしさ」を、現役中学生には「夢と希望」を与えてくれる、家族全員で楽しめる作品だ。内容と同時に、画像も立体感溢れる手抜きのない「今時珍しいアニメ」という意味でも好感を持てる。単なる写実主義でないことが何より嬉しい。名作ながらも、同時に照れくさい映画で、男としては複雑な心境にならざるをえない。ここは素直に作品を楽しむ姿勢を貫くしかなさそうだ。

いやぁ〜、こんなみずみずしくて、青春真っ只中なのに、変なクサさや、嫌味無く観られる作品早々無いですよ。

一度観ても、また観たくなる・・・。
そんな風にいつまでも、心に残り続ける・・、真の傑作です。

ここ最近のジブリは、やたら展開激しいものが多い気がする。
また、こんな風な何気ない作品も観てみたいものです。
