"1975 TOULOUSE"のライブアルバムが出るまでは、満場一致でマグマのベストアルバムと言われたアルバム。このアルバム、リマスターによりSeventhから発売されている同アルバムより、かなり音質が向上している。と言うわけで、始めてマグマを買うならやっぱりこれか！？しかし！Seventh盤と比べて大きなミスがこのアルバムにはある！KOHNTARK冒頭の"Hamatai"のかけ声がカットされているのだ！MAGMAファンからすればかなり痛い。と言うわけで、Hamataiがない分、星４つとしました。

間違いなく音楽史上ベストテンに入るアルバム。
何たって自分たちをコバイア星から来たコバイア星人だと言い、コバイア語なるものも作っちゃった人たちである。
ジャケの怪しげなカブトガニマークといい、何だか凄いものがある。
と、何だか見かけ倒しの企画バンドみたいなイメージがあるが、そうではない。

本国フランスでは国民の英雄的なスーパープログレッシヴジャズロックバンドなのである。
何たって僕が通っていた某地方大学のフランス人教師も知っていた。
まるで宗教歌を思わせる荘厳なコーラス、やたら強圧的でテクニカルな演奏、鬼神のごとく叩きまくるリーダーのクリスティアン・ヴァンデールのドラム、全てが驚異だ。

特に、ガンガンに歪んだ音色で縦横無尽に動き回るベルナール・パガノッティ（後に加藤登紀子のバンドに参加）のベースと、当時弱冠十八歳というヴァイオリンのディディエ・ロックウッドの演奏は圧巻。

ディディエはラスト曲での壮絶なソロのあと、血糊を吐いてぶっ倒れるという演出もやらされていたみたいで、エリート天才少年にオジサンたちも罪な教育を施したものである。
ともあれ、この拒否反応すれすれの強力な音楽、はまったら病みつきである。
音楽史に残る屈指の一枚だ。

いきなりのベタな親父ギャグは無視してもらって、マニア以外の人も聴いてほしい怒涛のライブです。
私と同じくマグマ初心者の人に…・
マグマの魅力といえばやはり地鳴りのようなＢ，Ｄｒが怒涛のごとく押し寄せてくるところにあると思いますが、これは最盛期のライブでさすがにすごいです。

なんか、メンバー全員が宗教的恍惚感にとりつかれているような感じです。いわゆる「いやし系」とよばれる音楽の対極にある音楽ですね。
「病気ではないが健康でもない」「めまい」「たちくらみ」「産前産後」、（感性が）貧血ぎみの方は避けたほうが無難かもしれません。
