この年の、イギリスのロックアルバムNo.1。ハードな曲とバラードのバランスもよく、至高の一枚になりました。TENの、今のところ、1stに並ぶ傑作アルバム。

90年代後半、メロディック・ハードの新星として登場したテンのアルバムも早くも6枚目。本作は最高傑作と言ってしまってもいい充実の内容だ。

トム・ニュートンが録音に関わったからか、今作はギターの音が素晴らしい。テンのヴォーカルハーモニーも好きだけど、個人的にはこのギターがなければ面白みは半減する。１曲目や5曲目、8、11曲目など、これぞテンという印象的なリフが聴ける。ドライヴィングで適度に重厚さを持ったギターである。

曲はおしなべてクオリティーが高く、これまでのアルバムに見られた捨て曲が、今回は見当たらない。アルバムの中盤~後半の盛り上げ方も上手く、コンセプトに頼らずとも起伏をつけることはできることを証明している。「The Name of the Rose」のようなずば抜けた名曲こそないが、全体としてよくできたアルバム。それだけに本作の後のヴィニー・バーンズの脱退は痛いが、なんとか苦境を乗り越えてほしい。
