G-FUNKの創設者DR,DREの1STアルバム。ドレーのアルバムなのに大半でスヌープがフューチャーされている。NWAでも曲作りにはほとんど参加していたドレーだが、個人的にはラップのスキルがそんなにあるとは思えない。NWA脱退後、NWAのリーダーであったイージーのスキルをスヌープが上回っていると考えたのであろう。トラック作りのドレーとラッパーとしてスキルを持つスヌープ。最強のコンビといわれる彼らの最初のアルバムである。その後出る、スヌープのアルバムドギースタイルはまさに傑作。
