本作品は、アンドレギャニオンの出世作となった初期の作品で、代表作でもあります。その美しさは一曲目から強烈に現われます。その後もきれいな曲が続きます。ともすればきれいな曲＝退屈な曲となりがちですが、このＣＤに限って言えば、収録時間が短く凝縮されている分全てがきちんと聴くことが出来ます。サウンド的には、ピアノ＆ストリングスがほとんどで、数曲にフルートなども入っています。この音がきれいなんですねぇ。私の家族にも聴かせたら、家族全員が好きになってしまいました。全体的には、晩秋の落ち葉があふれる散歩道を歩くときの寂しさのようなイメージを感じさせます。

この作品に関して私が補足説明することなど何もありません。日本で知られる２０年くらい前に神戸の元町商店街のとあるレコード店で出会ったのがキッカケでした。写真のない中間色のイラストレーションに惹かれたのでした。（＊輸入盤）それ以来、ほぼ全アルバムを所有していますが,残念なことが一つだけあります。このアルバムの次作は『シネマのように』という１９８５年くらいに発売されたレコードなのですが、この中にみなさんが抱いていると想われるアンドレギャニオンのブランドイメージをスコーンと爽快にブレイクスルーするとても素晴らしいメロディーラインを持ったスキャット入りボサノバ曲がラストに用意されているからです。日本未発表です。この『印象物語』と対照的なカラッとしたブランニュメなアンドレギャニオンが垣間見られるのです。センチメンタル＆ロマンティック路線でしか知られていないのがとても残念でなりませんね。もともと修行時代にパリあたりでシャンソン等ポップス系と出会ったことがバックグラウンドにある、彼オリジナルのクラシックポップとでも呼ぶべきだれも創造しなかった斬新なサウンドの魅力の一端がギャニオンさんにはあるのです。でも、やはり『印象物語』は凄い。特にお馴染みになった１曲目が凄い。何度聴きこんだだろうか。このサウンドトラックのような流麗なサウンドを元に、映画を制作してはいかがでしょうか？そんな監督さん現れないかな。

私はドラマＡｇｅ３５からアンドレギャニオンにはまりました。当然サントラから買いましたが、欲しかった曲が何曲か挿入されて居らす、ドラマの初回放送があった当時の他のアルバムを感で何枚か買ってみました。どれもすばらしかったのですが、この１枚こそが探していたアルバムでした。全体の仕上がりも美しく、アンドレに対しありがたいの一言に尽きます。
