メスカリン・ドライヴやソウル・フラワー・ユニオンへの参加を経て、真心ブラザーズのサポート、ギョガンレンズや下山淳らとのセッションなども経験し、現在は坂本みつわ(東京ブラボー)らとともにBLUE MOVEeとして活躍中のうつみようこ。彼女の初のソロ・アルバムが、POTSHOTのRYOJI主催によるレーベル、TV-Freak Recordsからリリースされる。
アルバム・タイトルは『YOKOLOCO』。“LOCO”はスペイン語で“バカ”という意味らしく、その名の通り(?)カラッと乾いたバカ明るい曲が、畳み掛けるように飛び出してくる。まるで、録音場所となったカリフォリニア州サンホセの空気をそのまま封じ込めたかのようだ。もちろん、そうした楽し気な雰囲気は、プロデュースを手掛けた米国スカ・パンクの裏番長マイク・パークの手腕によるところも大きいだろう。MU330の全面サポートや、POTSHOTのメンバーによる楽曲提供など、彼女自身の幅広い交友関係も存分に活かされている。 (黒田隆憲) --- 2001年12月号

うつみようこさんの初のソロアルバムなんですがバックがMU330+pot shotのメンバーに奥野真哉氏という強力なな顔ぶれで盛り上げてます。バンドのパワフルなサウンドに負けずパワフルなボーカルでかなり良い作品に仕上がってます。
