アイルランド出身の孤高のギターリストシンガークリスレアの歴史がわかる名ベストです。デビュー曲フールでブレイクし名盤オンザビーチで世界大ヒットした彼の味わい深いヴォーカルとギターが心地よい大人のアルバムです。イギリスのトップオブザポップスではエリッククラプトンやダイアーストレイツと比較される大スターという紹介でのステージでしたが、彼らが好きでまだの人は是非とも堪能できるはずです！！このベストアルバムはオンザビーチがヒットした後ＡＯＲ路線を強調した再録が大多数を占めていますのでこのベストはとても聞きやすいですしこのアルバムで彼が好きになった人はオリジナルで2度美味しい思いをすること間違いなしです。またこのアルバム未収録のラヴィンユーは彼の最高中の最高の名曲です！！

　クリスマス・シーズンの定番「ドライヴィング・ホーム・フォー・クリスマス」は個人的には彼の数ある名曲の中でも一番に好きな曲。いつ聴いても心が温かくなるやさしさにあふれた名曲だ。このアルバムはその「ドライヴィング・ホーム・フォー・クリスマス」も収録されたベスト・アルバム。「フール」、「オン・ザ・ビーチ」といったヒット曲はもちろん、胸がしめつけられるくらいにせつない「サウダーデ」、独特の渋みを感じさせながらも親しみやすいメロディが素晴らしい「ジョゼフィン」、洗練された音作りとバックのコーラスが印象的な「オール・サマー・ロング」など、どれをとってもクリス・レアのシンガー・ソング・ライターとしての才能とセンスを感じさせるものばかり。何と言ってもこの人の曲には本当の歌心が感じられるのだ。だからすっと心に入り込んでいく。商業的なことを意識したり、流行を取り入れたり・・・そういうことを全く意識せず、常に自分のスタイルとクオリティの向上に目を向け最高の作品を生み出していこうとするクリス・レアはまさに本物のミュージシャンである。
