   全3部作の一大RPGとして作られた作品。戦闘部分でシミュレーションの要素を取り入れているところが特徴で、敵との戦闘に突入するとスクエアで形成される戦闘マップに切り替わるようになっている。そのマップで、敵の行動を見越しながら自分たちを動かし戦っていく。仲間が多く存在し、戦闘で上手に使っていくことがストーリークリアの最善策となる。（大村 守）

アークザラットを未だかつてプレイしたことのない方は是非この作品からプレイすべしです。
普通のＲＰＧの戦闘とはちょっと違うので最初は違和感がありますが、プレイするうちに「アークはこうじゃないとね！」と思うようになります。
ストーリーはさくさくと進み、レベルもすぐにあがります。

しかし、ラスボスの意外性、そしてあまりにもの弱さ？に面食らいましたがこれもありでしょう。
データをしっかり保存して、次にプレイする「アーク２」でコンバートしちゃいましょう。

10年前の作品とは思えないくらいグラフィックがきれいです。
音楽もきれいな旋律で心地いいです。
難易度も低めなので、あまりゲームをやらない方でもすんなりクリアできます。
ストーリーは『2のプロローグ』といった感じの内容なので短い(10時間くらい?)&中途半端なところで終わります。
ただ、2にレベルやアイテムを持ち越せるので、そのためにやり込めばもう10時間は遊べます。
2はストーリーも非常によく100時間くらいやり込める名作なので2のためにも、この1からやりましょう。

PS発売でPSを買い、ソフトラインナップ（予定）の小さい画面写真の時点から
アークに目を付けていた私にとっては思い入れのある作品です。

【ストーリー】
分岐などのない王道RPG。話が良い。
RPGといえば西洋ファンタジーという時代にオリエンタルな雰囲気を持ってきたのは天晴れ。
一人一人のキャラクターに深みがあり、個性豊かな一行がとても魅力的。

2に続くので、話が途中でブッた斬られた感は否めない。
「えー、そこで終わるのかよ！」と思わず思う。

【システム/バトル】
マス目バトルのターン制（ポポロやトレジャーハンターGのような）
特殊攻撃はキャラにより魔法、召喚、肉体技など色々。
多種多様なセリフをばんばん喋って動いてくれるのが好き（かけ声スキー）

国家間の移動が少し面倒臭い。
仲間が増えてきた終盤、更に召喚獣を出したりすると狭いマップ内がギチギチになる。
悪夢の遺跡ダンジョン50階（途中セーブポイントなし）は苦行だが、頑張っただけの見返りはある（笑）
終盤は敵が弱すぎる。

バランスの悪い点もありますが、
その部分をひっくるめても愛すべき特色のあるゲームです。
2は更にオススメですが、2をより深く楽しむ為にもやはり1もプレイしてみて下さい。
PSoneで安くなっていることですし、是非。
