1994年6月27日夜、長野県松本市で起きた「松本サリン事件」を題材に、罪の無い被害者を冤罪へと陥れ、迫害していく警察、マスコミ、そして市民たちの姿を鋭く描いた、クライム・サスペンス・ムービー。

日本の映画は、こういった題材を積極的に取り上げるべきだと思う。この作品は、1人の民間人がオウム真理教（映画ではあるカルト教団となっている）が起こした松本サリン事件の犯人に仕立てられる冤罪を扱っている。オウム事件では、これ以外にもＴＢＳが坂本弁護士のビデオを犯人側に見せるという大失態をやらかした。マスコミの影響の大きさとそれに比例しない責任感。マスコミが罪のない、サリンの被害者（サリンを吸い込んで死ぬ間際だった）を犯人に仕立ててゆき、世論を創り上げてゆく報道機関の罪深さが淡々と描かれている。さすが、熊井啓の作品だと感じられる。あまり冗長にならず切れ味のよい作品に仕上がっている。日本の映画界は、アメリカのエンターテイメントな部分よりもむしろこのような社会問題を積極的に取り上げる根性を見習うべきだろう。

まずこの事件が起こった当時、こんな公平で正義感あふれるマスコミなど存在しなかった。

それから警察発表に反発するような独自の報道などするマスコミなど日本には存在しないし、ここまでマスコミを美化した映画は珍しい。マスコミ関係者が作り手にかかわってると思うほどだ。

これは注目を浴びた事件を利用した、ただの商業映画に過ぎない。この事件の問題は警察発表をそのまま報道する姿勢のマスコミに一番の大きな責任がある。警察への批判的な視点がマスコミには全くない。社会派の映画ならそこを切り込むべきなんじゃないか。

こういう映画を黙殺する我が国映画評論とはなんだのだ…
我が国の刑事警察捜査とマスコミ報道の欠点が非常によく分かる映画。
相変わらず戦後まもないころの自白偏重主義から抜け出せないのね。彼らは。
何時自分がマスコミと警察に犯人に仕立て上げられないかも分りません。
日本国民必見といえるのでわ。
ブラックサスペンスとして非常に良い出来。

星五つ。
