デビューアルバム(CHANGE THIS WORLD)では、芳醇なポップスを生み出す能力を存分に発揮したシトロンでしたが、こちらはその次作で、遊び心をふんだんに出し、元はトータル15分程度のミニアルバムに、ボーナストラックをつけて再発したCDです。

とにかく楽しくて、かわいい。これに尽きます。わずか15分だからこそ、凝縮された世界観が味わえます。構成としては、M2、M5がシングルのA面B面みたいな感じで、あとは、児童による合唱やロボットによる奇妙な歌唱など、自由でとても生き生きしていて、優しい気持ちになれます。特にM4の子供たちによる元気一杯の合唱が、とにかく楽しく、まさに曲名の"MAGIC POP LOLIPOP"そのものです。

当時、僕は7インチレコードで、これをプレゼントでもらって今でも大切に持っていますが、7インチに入る短い時間で、これだけのワンダーランドを展開できるこのユニットの実力は、相当なものです。全くセールスなどとは、無縁みたいなスタンスでいる人たちは、よくいますが、ここまで邪念ゼロで、本来のポップスの持っている魔力だけで、勝負し続ける人たちは、非常に稀だと思います。
シトロンに外れなし、他のアルバムも全てオススメです。

夢見るようなポップな曲調と、片岡知子さんの羽根のように軽い可憐な歌声で知られるシトロン。
97年のミニアルバムに、96年のシングル(+c/w)の４曲を加えた作品です。

ムシ声(録音の回転数をいじって得るかん高い声。「帰って来たヨッパライ」の感じ)や
田中知之さん(ファンタスティック・プラスティック・マシーン)も加わったサンプリング
子供たちのにぎやかなコーラスなど、楽しい遊び心に溢れる一枚。
いたずらっぽい可愛いジャケットイラストの雰囲気そのままです。

ドライブ感抜群でうきうきする「Walkin' in wonderland」
ストリングスが胸に迫るような美しさの「My thing」
ビーチボーイズ愛に満ちた切なさが疾走する「Adventure monsters」
(子供コーラス隊の名はBB5曲名からイタダいたCar Crazy Cutiesなのだっ!)などなど底抜けにポップで愛らしい！

ボーナスでは意外にも(!?)ファンキーな一面も味わえたり…。はねるリズムが心地いい！
なかでも、切ないメロディーが炸裂する「にじますの街角」は
たくさんの人に聴いて頂けたらな、と思ってしまうような一曲です。
