パーティーで思いきりはじけさせてくれる3分52秒のトラックを探すなら、今にも踊りたくなりそうなファンク仕立ての楽しい傑作、ディー・ライトの「Groove Is in the Heart」をおいて他にない。このトラックは本ベスト盤の中でもずば抜けている。最終的にはリスナーを喜ばせたこのトラックだが、（信じがたいことに）もともとはB面曲で、レコード会社はリリースを望んでいなかった。けれども、愉快なレトロ感覚という普遍的な魅力によって世界的な大ヒット曲となったのだ。そして、そのサウンドは今聴いても、1990年にヒットチャートの2位になったときと変わらない新鮮さと奇抜さとクールさを感じさせる。
だが残念なことに、本作を聴けばおわかりのとおり、このトラックは必ずしもディー・ライトの典型的なサウンドではない。ボーカルのレディ・キアー、DJのディミトリとテイ・トウワは、80年代末のニューヨークのクラブ・カルチャーにのめり込み、ダンスフロアのより堅実な面に活動時間の大半をつぎこんで、「Good Beat」「Power of Love」といったトラックを生んだ。こうしたトラックは、ブラック・ボックスを有名にしたのと同じピアノを強調したハウス・トラックだった。しかし、ヒット曲は次々とは続かなかった。
本作には、「Groove Is in the Heart」より優れたトラックはないものの、彼らのテーマ曲でもある威勢のいい「Who Was That?」、後期のトラック「Say Ahh」、エコロジーを歌った奇妙な「I Had a Dream I Was Falling Through a Hole in the Ozone Layer」などのように、ヒップホップと70年代サウンドが生んだありとあらゆる持ち味があり、ファンク色の濃いダンス・トラックは今もなおクレイジーかつセクシーでとびっきりクールだ。（Dan Gennoe, From Amazon.co.uk）

For 3 minutes and 52 seconds of pure, party-popping genius, look no further than the funk-spangled, arm waving, masterpiece of fun that is Deee-Lite's "Groove Is in the Heart", an obvious standout of their Very Best Of. The ultimate crowd pleaser, it was--in true fairy tale style--the B-side that their record company didn't want to release... and became an international smash thanks to the universal appeal of its retro sense of fun. And it still sounds as fresh, cool and wacky as it did when it reached No. 2 in 1990. Unfortunately for Deee-Lite, as this best-of illustrates, it wasn't really what they were about. Immersed in late 1980s New York club culture, singer Lady Miss Kier, DJ Dimitry and DJ Towa Tei, spent much of their time on the more credible side of the dance-floor, delivering the likes of "Good Beat" and "Power of Love", which boast the same piano bashing house that Black Box made their name with. Follow-up hits weren't forthcoming. But while "Groove Is in the Heart" is never surpassed here, where their taste for all things hip-hop and 1970s kicks in--as with their Theme, the sassy "Who Was That?" and latter tracks "Say Ahh" and the oddly ecological "I Had a Dream I Was Falling Through a Hole in the Ozone Layer"--their funkadelic dance is still crazy, sexy and very cool. --Dan Gennoe
