マイケルのことをあまりよく知らない人でも
「マイケルっていったらスリラーでしょ」っていう人なら多いです。
だったらマイケルのことがちょっと気になる人はここから初めてみるのもいいと思います。
そんな宇宙一有名なアルバムはマイケルファンのなかでも超絶賛されてます。
まさにこれを買わずしてマイケルファンは語れまい！ですよ。
最強ポップです。マイケルは本当にKing Of Popだと思いました。
Thrillerもいいですけれど、The Lady In My lifeやP.Y.T.も声がセクシーで聞くたびに彼の歌手的すごさを思い知らされます！
マイケル入門をベスト盤から始めるのもいいけれど、このアルバムから始めても損はないです。この内容の濃さには十分満足いくはずです♪

ボーナストラックにはインタビューが多く、訳がないと
わけがわからないものが多いです。インタビュー以外で楽しめるものは
11曲目のサムワン・イン・ザ・ダーク
13曲目のビリー・ジーン（オリジナル・デモ）
17曲目のナレーション・ヴィンセント・プライスによる「スリラー」
20曲目のメリーゴーランド(アウトテイク)の４つでしょう。

なお、ナレーション・ヴィンセント・プライスによる「スリラー」では
ヘッドフォンからもれているスリラーの音楽が微量できこえます。
また、リリースでは使用されなかった２番目の部分があり、貴重です。

安い輸入盤を購入される方に以下要約を記載しておきます。

トラック１０のインタビューでは「ＥＴ」の原案が素になったサムワン・イン・ザ・ダークのレコーディング風景を語ります。
トラック１２ではガール・イズ・マイン　ビリージーン　
トラック１４ではビートイットやＭＴＶについて語っています。
トラック１５、１６ではスリラーについて語っています。

このページを見て、スリラーという名前を知らないという人はいったい何人いるのだろうか。いや、いないのではないかと思う。そんなスリラーは何故有名なのかと言えば、勿論ギネスブックにおいて世界最高セールスを記録したということだ。82年にリリースされたこのアルバムが売れた理由は、何もOFF THE WALLの続編だからではない。

モータウン25周年でパフォーマンスをした時に、BILLIE JEANを初披露し、一緒に出演していた兄達やスタッフも知らされなかった内容だった。奇抜な動きが終始支配し、極めつけは初のムーンウォークの披露だった。そのステージを見た世界の数億人の観衆は手に汗を握って興奮したという。その次の日にはレコードショップに長蛇の列が並び、当然1位に躍り出た。それ以降も画期的なPVとパフォーマンスによってシングルヒットを飛ばし続け、アルバムに収録されている9曲のうち7曲がシングルカットされ、そのどれもが全米でトップ10内にランクインするという快挙を達成。以後20年以上に渡って上昇と下降を繰り返し、そのトータルの全米1位獲得週は何と37週間に及ぶ。

前回のOFF THE WALLと決定的な違いは、ブラックミュージックのくくりに拘っていないことだ。エディ・ヴァン・へイレンを招いたハードロックナンバーのBEAT ITや、ラテンフレイヴァーを取り込んだスタート・サムシングにポール・マッカートニーとのデュエットによるポップナンバーなど様々だ。タイトルトラックのスリラーですら、何処かテクノやクラブサウンドの前衛的な雰囲気すらある。

今回はそのスリラーをデジタルリマスタリングで鮮明な音質にし、クインシージョーンズのロングインタビューやビリージーンのデモバージョン（歌詞の内容が全く違う）などが追加収録され、至れり尽くせりの内容となっている。スリラーを当時買った人も、これから聞く人も、是非手に入れておきたいアイテムだ。
